DeGrom (elbow) will undergo surgery on his ulnar nerve later this week, thus ending his season, Adam Rubin of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
There was a very slim chance that deGrom could push off the surgery long enough in order to assist the Mets bullpen during the postseason if they made it that far, but the Mets have decided to close the book on his 2016 campaign and get him healthy for next season. The expected recovery time for this procedure is three months, so as long as everything goes as planned, the right-hander should be recovered in time for spring training.
