Brett Anderson (elbow) will throw a three-inning simulated game in Arizona on Monday.
He's thrown a few bullpen sessions over the past week and a half, and this is the next logical step in his rehabilitation. If all goes well in the simulated game, he could be cleared to begin a lengthy minor league rehab assignment. Anderson is shooting to return to the Athletics rotation at some point in August.

Brett Anderson (elbow) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Sunday and will throw live batting practice on Wednesday and Sunday.
If those sessions go well, he'll then be cleared to begin a rehab assignment. Anderson has been throwing all his pitches in bullpen sessions, but he'll obviously need a lengthy rehab assignment as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. He's shooting to return sometime in August.

Brett Anderson (elbow) faced live hitters Friday.
It was his first session against live hitters since he was shut down briefly in May. "He threw 25 pitches, all of his pitches. Breaking balls, the whole bit," said Athletics manager Bob Melvin. "He'll throw a bullpen here on Sunday and then the next step is to go to Arizona and do two innings." Anderson will likely need a handful of starts in the minors, but he should rejoin the A's rotation at some point in August if all goes well. He makes for an intriguing DL-stash in deeper fantasy leagues.

Brett Anderson (elbow) will throw to live hitters Tuesday.
It's a big step for the left-hander, as it usually means a rehab assignment is right around the corner. Anderson will obviously need plenty of rehab starts and certainly won't be ready to rejoin the A's rotation before the end of the month.

Brett Anderson (elbow) hopes to make a start in extended spring training next week.
Anderson recently began throwing live batting practice and hopes to begin a minor league rehab assignment by the end of the month. Barring any setbacks with his surgically-repaired left elbow, he could rejoin the A's rotation as soon as late June or early July. Anderson could make for an interesting DL-stash in AL-only leagues.

Brett Anderson (elbow) will throw live batting practice Thursday for the first time since Tommy John surgery.
The left-hander has already been throwing all of his pitches in bullpen sessions for nearly a month and is now ready to face hitters. It's not clear how far he is away from a rehab assignment, but he's still expected back sometime in August.

Brett Anderson (elbow) threw all of his pitches in a bullpen session Tuesday for the first time since surgery.
Anderson will travel to the A's spring training complex in Arizona Wednesday and could be ready for live batting practice and simulated games in a week or two. His recovery from Tommy John surgery is coming along nicely, but we still wouldn't expect him back before August.

Brett Anderson (elbow) will throw changeups during his bullpen session Saturday.
Anderson has been throwing off the mound since late February, but this will be the first time he's thrown any offspeed pitches. To this point, he remains on track for a return sometime in the second half this season.
