Athletics placed LHP Brett Anderson on the 60-day disabled list with a left elbow injury.
An expected move, as Anderson is currently working his way back from Tommy John surgery. If all goes well in his rehab, he figures to contribute at some point during the second half of the season.

Brett Anderson threw off a mound Monday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery.
Anderson gave himself an "A+" after the short throwing session. The left-hander is ahead of schedule in his return from the major elbow procedure but probably won't appear in a big league game before August.

Brett Anderson (elbow) will throw off the mound for the first time since surgery Monday.
Anderson remains ahead of schedule in his return from Tommy John surgery and is hopeful to be back in the rotation by mid-August, but expectations for this year should be kept in check. He could reemerge as one of the game's top young lefties as soon as 2013.

Athletics manager Bob Melvin said Sunday that Brett Anderson (elbow) is on target to return in August.
Anderson has said previously that he hoped to be back in July, but it sounds like it will be a little later than that. Of course, a lot can happen between now and then, so any timetable is a rough estimate. With his command unlikely to be up to snuff initially upon his return, Anderson can't be counted on to contribute much for fantasy owners in 2012.

Brett Anderson played catch Monday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery in July.
Anderson made about 20 throws from a distance of 45 feet without pain. "It felt kinda weird, like how it would be if you were walking again or riding your bike again for the first time in forever," said Anderson. "But after about 10 throws, I felt pretty good, and I realize it's just one other thing I have to do in this process." The 23-year-old southpaw has targeted next July for his return to a major-league mound.

Athletics transferred LHP Brett Anderson from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
He was cleared to open a spot on the 40-man following the acquisitions of Brandon Allen and Jordan Norberto in the Brad Ziegler deal with Arizona. Anderson underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this month and will likely be sidelined until late-2013 or 2013.

The Athletics have announced that Brett Anderson underwent Tommy John surgery.
Awful news. Anderson has been sidelined since early June with what was termed as elbow soreness. He was even given a platelet rich plasma injection in an effort to avoid surgery, but clearly he hasn't progressed as hoped. The talented young left-hander is officially droppable in standard mixed leagues. We won't see him again until late-2012 or perhaps 2013.
