Brett Anderson has been diagnosed with a strained right oblique. Well, that's not good. Anderson hurt himself when he fell down while delivering a pitch in the third inning. The severity of the injury isn't yet known, but there's a good chance he won't be able to return during the regular season. Travis Blackley and Tyson Ross would be options to fill in for Anderson.

Brett Anderson left Wednesday's start against the Tigers in the third inning with an apparent injury. Anderson fell down while making a pitch and then walked off the field after a visit from the trainer. It's not clear at this point what he injured, but the A's should update his status shortly. Pat Neshek replaced him on the mound.

Brett Anderson surrendered five runs and nine hits in 6 2/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Angels. Anderson must have been awfully impressive during his six scoreless innings to get so much rope in the seventh. He gave up a homer, a double, two singles and a walk in the frame, and all three runners he left on came around to score off Jesse Chavez. The end result was his first loss since returning from Tommy John surgery. He's now 4-1 with a 1.93 ERA.

The A's don't plan on assigning Brett Anderson (elbow) an innings limit for the 2013 season. Anderson had Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery a little over one year ago, but the A's don't feel the need to be as careful with him as the Nationals are being with Stephen Strasburg. "I can see both sides of it," Anderson said. "As a competitive person, you want to be out there and help your team get to the postseason, but from a career longevity standpoint, you want to be smart, too. It's tough to say one way is right or wrong."

Brett Anderson surrendered just an unearned run over six innings Friday to move to 4-0 as the A's beat the Mariners 6-1. The A's were the first team to rough up Hisashi Iwakuma in the couple of months since he moved into the rotation, not that Anderson really needed it. He allowed just one extra-base hit in the game, and he didn't walk anyone. He's walked a total of three batters while winning all four of his starts since coming back from Tommy John surgery.

Brett Anderson moved to 3-0 in his return from Tommy John surgery by holding the Red Sox to one run in six innings Sunday. The A's won 6-2 today and outscored the Red Sox 33-5 in sweeping a three-game series. Anderson has surrendered just two runs and he's yet to allow a homer in three starts since coming off the DL last month. He struck out four and walked one today.

In his first start of the season, Brett Anderson dominated the Twins, allowing just one run on four hits over seven innings. He struck out six and walked none. While one wouldn't be advised to get carried away by such dominance against a meek Minnesota offense, it's difficult not to get excited by a supremely-talented hurler shining in his first appearance coming off Tommy John surgery. Anderson hadn't toed the rubber in the big leagues since June 5 of last year. He needs to be owned in all AL-only leagues and deeper mixed fantasy formats going forward. Proprietors of standard-leagued teams should take a chance on him if they have deadweight on their rosters.

Brett Anderson will start Tuesday against the Twins. This confirms a report by Kate Longworth of CSNBayArea.com. Anderson hasn't started in the big leagues since June 5, 2011 due to Tommy John surgery on his left elbow. The 24-year-old southpaw posted a 4.24 ERA and 18/5 K/BB ratio in 23 1/3 innings across five rehab starts with Triple-A Sacramento. He makes for a worthwhile addition in AL-only fantasy leagues and deeper mixed formats.

Athletics activated LHP Brett Anderson from the 60-day disabled list. Dan Straily was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding roster move. The A's have yet to make an official announcement, but Anderson is expected to make his return Tuesday night against the Twins. The 24-year-old southpaw is in his first year back from Tommy John surgery, so there could be some bumps in the road, but he could have some sneaky fantasy value down the stretch.

According to CSNBayArea.com, lefty Brett Anderson will make his 2012 debut Tuesday against the Twins. Anderson has been out of commission since June 5, 2011 because of Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. He has looked sharp in recent rehab outings and his matchup Tuesday against Minnesota is a good one, but the southpaw is still rebuilding his arm strength and shouldn't be expected to shine right out of the gate.
