Brett Anderson allowed two runs in five innings in a minor league start Saturday.
The result is less noteworthy than the simple fact that Anderson made it through five innings without incident. The 25-year-old threw two innings on February 28 but left his start on March 10 with a strained right trapezius muscle. When healthy, Anderson is one of the better pitchers in the league. The problem is that Anderson has rarely been healthy during his professional career.

Brett Anderson (neck) is scheduled to throw 65 pitches in a minor league game Saturday.
Anderson hasn't pitched since leaving his last start with a strained right trapezius muscle. The injury doesn't appear to be anything too serious at this point. If Anderson can avoid setbacks, he should then be cleared to return to Cactus League games.

Brett Anderson (neck) is on target to make his next scheduled Cactus League start.
Anderson left Sunday's outing with a strained right trapezius muscle and also had his Tuesday bullpen session pushed back, but he's expected to be fine. The left-hander should be a nice fantasy option in his first full season back from Tommy John surgery.

Brett Anderson limited the Cubs to just one hit over two scoreless innings Thursday.
Named the A's Opening Day starter earlier in the day, Anderson struck out one and didn't walk anyone. The southpaw looked strong late last season after coming back from Tommy John surgery and could be a high-end fantasy option in 2013.

Brett Anderson will start for the A's on Opening Day -- April 1 -- against the Mariners.
The A's made that announcement Thursday morning on their official Twitter account. Anderson, 25, posted a 2.57 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 25/7 K/BB ratio in 35 innings last season after returning from Tommy John surgery. He seems like a potential front-line 2013 fantasy starter.

Making his first start in 20 days, Brett Anderson befuddled the Tigers' bats Tuesday, tossing six scoreless frames in the 2-0 ALDS Game 3 win.
Anderson allowed just two singles, walked two and struck out six, showing no rust or ill effects from his oblique injury. A's manager Bob Melvin had hoped to get five innings out of the lefty, but he sent him out there for the sixth and Anderson wound up throwing just 80 pitches. The A's will send A.J. Griffin to the mound Wednesday in hopes of forcing a Game 5.

Brett Anderson will start Game 3 of the ALDS.
Anderson made it through a bullpen session Saturday without experiencing any lingering discomfort in his oblique. The A's are down 2-0 to the Tigers in the five-game ALDS and will need a strong showing from the young lefty. A.J. Griffin will start Game 4 if the A's can stay alive.

Brett Anderson (oblique) has pronounced himself "ready to go" for Game 3 of the ALDS.
A's manager Bob Melvin will wait until Monday to officially announce a Game 3 starter, but Anderson felt fine after another bullpen session Saturday and is expected to get the nod. A.J. Griffin will be the team's Game 4 starter, if necessary.

Brett Anderson (oblique) is expected to start Game 3 of the ALDS against the Tigers.
Anderson has thrown a couple bullpen sessions without having any issues with his strained right oblique. Scheduled Game 4 starter A.J. Griffin and/or Dan Straily will be on call in case Anderson aggravates the ailment early in the game. The A's are going with Jarrod Parker and Tommy Milone in the first two games.
