Tim Thomas apparently won't be selected as one of the three goalies for Team U.S.A. for the upcoming Olympic Games in Sochi.
Jimmy Howard, Ryan Miller and Jonathan Quick will get the call from the selection committee Wednesday. This has to be a huge disapointment for Thomas as one of the reasons he returned to play in the NHL this season was so that he could represent his country in Russia. "There's not much I can do about it, so I won't put too much effort into thinking about that, then there's other guys that are hurt, too," Thomas said. "I don't know if that will impact their decision or not." Thomas ewas supossed to play in one of the Panthers' games this weekend but he did not see any action. Scott Clemmensen played well against Montreal on Sunday so it will be interesting to see if Thomas will get the start against the Rangers on Tuesday.

After getting an extra day off to rest his groin muscle, Tim Thomas will likely be in goal Sunday against Montreal.
Most were betting that Thomas would start Saturday against the Red Wings but Scott Clemmensen was in goal. If Thomas does start against the Habs, it will be his first game since December 12th.

Tim Thomas will watch Saturday's game from the bench to make sure his groin doesn't become an issue.
"Just an extra day and extra time. He can play but we're just giving him the extra time to make sure everything is good," interim coach Peter Horachek said. "We're looking in the long term rather than the short term." Scott Clemmensen will get the call on Saturday night against Detroit and Thomas may get the call for Sunday's game versus Montreal.

Tim Thomas will in fact get the start against Detroit Saturday night.
He looks good to go after a few practices this week. Thomas was activated off injured reserve Tuesday as he has recovered from a groin muscle pull. He has a tough assignment Saturday night against the Red Wings, though.

Tim Thomas should be considered Florida's starting netminder for Saturday's contest against Detroit.
Scott Clemmmensen played well for the Panthers during his absence, but Thomas is ready to return to the crease after recovering from a groin injury. Thomas had won his previous three games before getting hurt at practice to give him a 9-10-1 record on the year to go with a .909 save percentage and a 2.75 GAA.

Tim Thomas (groin) has been activated off of the injured reserve list.
Nothing has been confirmed, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Thomas start in the Panthers' first game back from the Christmas break on Saturday. Scott Clemmensen has been solid during Thomas' absence, but he allowed six goals on 36 shots against Tampa Bay on Monday.

Tim Thomas (groin) may return after the Christmas break.
Panthers coach Peter Horachek hasn't been in a rush to activate Thomas from injured reserve because the Panthers had been playing well and they want to make sure the veteran goaltender doesn't get re-injured. "I don't see the purpose of it," Horachek said. "Why do it right now? The extra few days would be the perfect scenario. We can see him after Christmas, or pretty close." He has missed the team's last five games with a groin injury.

Tim Thomas (groin) didn't experience any pain when he practiced on Sunday.
"I felt pretty good. It's the first day I didn't feel any pain," Thomas said. "So it's a big step forward." He won't play Monday though and Scott Clemmensen, who has done a solid job in Thomas' absence, will get the nod for the Panthers.

Veteran goalie Tim Thomas (groin) is eligible to come off the injured list and return to the Florida Panthers but coach Peter Horachek has decided against it.
Horachek thinks Thomas could use some extra rest and won't be back until after Christmas.

Tim Thomas (groin) was on the ice for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.
There's a chance that he may be activated from injured reserve for Friday's game in Winnipeg, but coach Peter Horachek said nothing has been decided on that front yet.
