Scott Clemmensen allowed one goal on nine shots in the third period.

Look for Tim Thomas to get his 11th straight start Saturday. He will have the unenviable task of facing the Penguins. Thomas seems to be interm coach Peter Horacek's guy, so don't expect many Scott Clemmensen's starts over the short term.

Thomas is in consideration for Team USA for the Winter Olympics. However, he will be in tough to get a roster spot with Ryan Miller, Jimmy Howard, Cory Schneider, Ben Bishop and Jonathan Quick being looked at as well.

The Panthers play again immediately on Friday against the Flames so the Panthers could give Thomas some rest and start with Jacob Markstrom.

Tim Thomas made 27 saves through the end of overtime, and stopped all three shots in the shootout, lifting the Panthers to a 3-2 victory against the Canucks Tuesday night. Thomas now has a 5-6-0 record with a 2.76 goals against average and .910 save percentage.

Tim Thomas hopes to represent the United States at the Winter Olympics. "Absolutely, absolutely," Thomas said when asked about his Olympic aspirations. "Yeah, it's one of the major factors. I only got to play [part of one period] against Finland. But the whole experience was awesome. It doesn't matter if you're playing or not in the Olympics you want to be a part of it, and I'd love to be a part of it again." The 39-year-old veteran is on Team USA's radar, but there are plenty of contenders who are probably further up the list than Thomas. Still, he could land a spot if he's playing well at the end of December.
