Neuvirth stopped 30 shots as the Sabres lost to the Ducks 4-1 on Wednesday.
It was a much better effort for the Sabres in their second meeting with the Ducks after getting outshot 44-12 and losing 5-1 in their first meeting. Neuvirth held the fort until the third period when Corey Perry scored two goals within 1:18 to complete his hat trick. The Sabres could've given Neuvirth a little more goal support, but Frederik Andersen remained on fire. Head coach Ted Nolan said he would split goaltending duties, which means Jhonas Enroth will draw the Kings on Thursday night. The Sabres are 0-1 in their current four-game road trip. It'll be a tough go for Sabres goalies this year with the team expected to finish in lottery position.

Neuvirth will get the start on Wednesday against the Ducks, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Neuvirth has appeared in one game this season giving up five goals on 44 shots, in a 5-1 loss to the Ducks on October 13. Buffalo has been struggling with any goalie to put in net this season and after starter Jonas Enroth gave up four goals to the Bruins on Saturday, Buffalo seems to be trying anything that will work at the moment.

In his first start of the season, Neuvirth stopped 39 of 44 shots in a 5-1 loss to anaheim on Monday.
At this rate, head coach Ted Nolan will have to split goaltending duties if the Sabres keep allowing 40-plus shots per game. The Sabres were supposed to be much improved this year on defense but that has yet to take shape. Neuvirth struggled in the preseason but played much better in his first start. The Sabres offense generated just 12 shots against Frederik Andersen, so Neuvirth didn't have much of a chance to get the win anyway. Anaheim's a tough opponent, but Jhonas Enroth so far remains the team's No. 1 goalie.

Neuvirth will start Monday against the Ducks, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports.
Neuvirth will make his season debut in place of starter Jhonas Enroth, and will need to be excellent behind a shaky Sabres defensive unit if he wants to escape with a win.

Neuvirth stopped just 16 shots in Friday's 6-4 loss to Toronto.
How do you say "laid an egg" in Czech? Neuvirth is fighting for the No. 1 job in Buffalo but allowed six goals on just 22 shots in the loss. This, compared to the competition, Jhonas Enroth, who posted a 2-0 shutout in his preseason start. The Sabres defense wasn't flawless but Neuvirth wasn't sharp either, allowing several soft goals during the game. He also didn't look particularly quick or fast, compared to his normal level of play, and you have to wonder if the hip injury suffered in March is still bugging him. Enroth is clearly ahead for the starting job right now.

Neuvirth will be the Sabres' starter Friday against Toronto, reports John Vogl of The Buffalo News.
Neuvirth will have his work cut out for him with Jhonas Enroth posting a shutout in his preseason start. The two are in a battle for the starting job and Neuvirth is facing a Maple Leafs team that will dress a few key players, including Nazem Kadri and David Clarkson. Neuvirth was very good for the Sabres before suffering a hip injury and is looking to continue where he left off. The Sabres are unlikely to name a starter until a few days before their season opener. As of right now, Enroth has the inside track, but a strong performance from Neuvirth at camp can certainly change that.

Neuvirth is set to battle Jhonas Enroth in training camp for top goaltending duties for the Sabres, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
Neuvirth, who was acquired by the Capitals at the trade deadline last season, only appeared in two games with his new squad before a hip injury ended his season. He's now fully recovered from the issue, and should see a roughly even workload in training camp while the coaching staff looks to proclaim a victor. Both goalies have similar career numbers which confer neither an advantage, but Neuvirth's familiarity with new goalie coach Arturs Irbe could work in his favor. Under Irbe's watch in Washington in 2010-11, Neuvirth enjoyed the best season of his career, going 27-12-4 with a 2.45 GAA and .914 save percentage. Don't expect the Sabres to announce their No. 1 netminder until late in training camp, with the team possibly waiting up until the morning skate of their Oct. 9 regular season opener against Columbus.

Michal Neuvirth's lower-body injury was a hip issue.
Sabres GM Tim Murray said that Neuvirth has been seeing a specialist to help with the nagging problem. He sat out Buffalo's last 15 games of the season due to the ailment.

Michal Neuvirth isn't expected to return this week.
Coach Ted Nolan said before Sunday's game that he has pretty much ruled out the possibility that Neuvirth or Jhonas Enroth will return in the Sabres' last four contests of the season. Neuvirth hasn't played since Mar. 13 because of a lower-body injury, but he looked good in a pair of losses for his new team before getting hurt.

Michal Neuvirth (lower body) has returned to Buffalo for further evaluation.
Neuvirth hasn't played since March 13 and it looks like he won't be back in the near future. He has a 2.78 GAA and .921 save percentage in 15 games this season.
