Buffalo GM Tim Murray is looking at Michal Neuvirth as a reclamation project, who can still live up to his potential as a second-round draft pick. "For whatever reason, he's a backup there and he's just not as important as he wants to be," Murray said referring to Neuvirth's time in Washington. "I think when he gets to feel some love again or whatever you want to call it and has an opportunity, then he can get his game back." The former Capitals netminder posted a 4-6-2 record with a .914 save percentage and a 2.82 GAA in 13 games with the Capitals this campaign. He should share starts with Jhonas Enroth down the stretch.

The Buffalo Sabres have acquired Michal Neuvirth from the Washington Capitals in exchange for Jaroslav Halak. Neuvirth is signed through the 2014-15 campaign and is just 25 years old, so he fits more into Buffalo's rebuilding efforts. He's struggled to gain any traction in Washington, but he's worth keeping an eye on because he should get a legitimate shot to challenge Jhonas Enroth for the starting gig.

Michal Neuvirth may get the call for Washington on Friday at Detroit. That's the plan at least, as Braden Holtby will be in goal for Thursday's contest against Columbus. Neuvirth's last appearance came on Jan. 24 in a 2-1 loss to New Jersey.
