Neuvirth stopped 31 of 33 shots in Friday's loss to the Panthers. A great outing for the 26-year-old, who didn't get much offensive support from the Sabres in the loss. It was a good bounce-back game for Neuvirth, as he had previously lost three straight games, surrendering a whopping 14 goals in that span. He is now 3-9-1 on the season with a .911 save percentage and 3.21 GAA. While he will continue to see action behind starter Jhonas Enroth, the fact the Sabres have just 14 wins this season makes Neuvirth an unappealing fantasy option.

Neuvirth will be in the crease Friday against the Panthers, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports. Neuvirth hasn't provided much reason for optimism in over a month, as he lost all three of his December starts while surrendering a total of 14 goals. He'll be getting the call for the first end of the Sabres' weekend back-to-back set, but doesn't figure to pose much of a threat to Jhonas Enroth's standing atop the depth chart until he proves more reliable in spot-start scenarios such as Friday's.

Staked to a 3-1 lead in the middle of the second period Tuesday, Neuvirth and the Sabres proceeded to give up five unanswered goals to take a 6-3 loss to the Red Wings. That's a brutal outcome for the 26-year-old netminder, but if it's any consolation, four of those goals came on the power play, while Neuvirth's mates managed to put only 16 shots on Petr Mrazek at the other end. Still, no matter how you sugarcoat it, that's three straight losses for Neuvirth, and he's given up a whopping 14 goals in that span.

Neuvirth (illness) has been confirmed as Tuesday's starter in goal against the Red Wings, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports. An illness prevented Neuvirth from picking up one of the starts for the Sabres over back-to-back set this past weekend, but after he was back at full health Tuesday morning, coach Ted Nolan will turn the net over to the backup netminder. Neuvirth briefly enjoyed a run as the team's preferred option in goal as recently as mid-November, but Jhonas Enroth has since seemed to have captured that mantle from him. The 26-year-old owns just a 3-7-1 record and 3.06 GAA over 12 appearances on the season.

Neuvirth was the first goaltender off the ice at morning skate and is expected to get the start between the pipes against Detroit on Tuesday. Neuvirth enters Tuesday's contest against Detroit with a 3.06 GAA and a .915 save percentage on the season. Neuvirth has been extremely hit or miss so far this year, giving up three or more goals in four of his eight starts on the season. The 26 year old goaltender will remain a boom or bust play against Detroit on Tuesday.

Neuvirth was passed over for the start in goal Sunday against the Bruins due to an illness. Coach Ted Nolan was prepared to start Neuvirth on Sunday after going with Jhonas Enroth for the first game of their weekend back-to-back set on Saturday, but said Neuvirth was feeling a bit weakened earlier in the day. The Sabres haven't recalled an extra goalie from the minors at this time, so it's generally expected that Neuvirth will be healthy for Tuesday's game against the Red Wings.

Neuvirth allowed five goals on 36 shots in Tuesday's blowout loss to Winnipeg. Neuvirth didn't look like he was at his best while making his first start in 10 days and just his second start since Nov. 18. While he's turned in a lot of very solid starts this year, Neuvirth tends to get blown up for four-plus goals often enough that he's not a trustworthy roll even when he manages to swipe starts from Jhonas Enroth.

Neuvirth will be in goal for Tuesday's game against the Jets. Neuvirth will start Tuesday for the first time since Dec. 6, and for just the second time since Nov. 18. He will square off against a Winnipeg team that lost 4-1 its last time out but tallied at least three goals in four consecutive games prior to that.

Neuvirth made 34 saves in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Florida. He has just a single win in the last month, but such is the course for a goalie stuck in Buffalo's net. His save percentage is actually solid, but he's not adding much to your fantasy squad otherwise.

Jhonas Enroth's run of seven straight starts came to an end with a thud Thursday night, as the Sabres took a 5-0 loss to the Lightning, resulting in coach Ted Nolan turning the crease over to Neuvirth. The 26-year-old hasn't seen any action since leaving a Nov. 18 game with a lower-body injury, and doesn't make for a particularly inspiring option, even against a low-scoring Florida squad.
