Neuvirth allowed three goals on 52 shots as the Sabres' woes continue in a 3-2 loss to Edmonton on Friday. Let's be clear - there was nothing more Neuvirth could've done to help the Sabres win the game. He stopped 49 of 52 shots for a .942 save percentage in an embarrassing defensive effort against one of the worst teams int he league. Boyd Gordon's late-game winner came off a turnover by Andrej Meszaros and a lackluster back check by the entire team as Neuvirth was hung out to dry. The Sabres blew a 2-1 lead and couldn't capitalize with the man advantage and won just 30 of 78 face offs.

Neuvirth will be in the crease Friday against the Oilers. After suggesting a day earlier that Jhonas Enroth would get the start against the Oilers, coach Ted Nolan reversed course at Friday's morning skate, instead granting Neuvirth his third straight start. With the Sabres playing a back-to-back over the weekend, both Neuvirth and Enroth were likely to get one nod apiece anyway, but Neuvirth will benefit from getting the more favorable draw of the two. The Oilers have dropped four in a row and will be playing the second game of their own back-to-back set, providing Neuvirth will a good shot at evening his record at 3-3-1.

Neuvirth surrendered only one goal in regulation as the Sabres fell to the Habs 2-1 in a shootout Wednesday. Neuvirth got the nod again after defeating the Red Wings on Sunday after stopping 36 or 38 shots, but could not win his second straight game. In his past two starts, Neuvirth has allowed just three goals in regulation on 70 shots, good enough for a .957 save percentage. Goal support has been virtually non-existent for the Sabres this year, but Neuvirth is doing his best to keep his team in games. Despite Jhonas Enroth winning the starting job after training camp, Neuvirth has appeared to be the stronger goalie thus far this season. Head coach Ted Nolan will continue to split the starts until a clear No. 1 emerges.

Neuvirth will start Tuesday's game against the Canadiens, Bill Hoppe of the Times Herald reports. Neuvirth will start for the second straight game in place of Jhonas Enroth, who has won just once all season. This isn't an official changing of the guard in Buffalo, but it's possible Neuvirth could be getting a chance to replace Enroth as the Sabres' primary goaltender.

Neuvirth stopped 36 shots in Sunday's shootout win over the Red Wings. Getting the start on the second game of a back-to-back, Neuvirth was strong in net despite facing 21 shots in the third and overtime periods. He's still the backup, but he's been in net in two of the team's three wins and has played well in limited action.

Neuvirth will start in goal against the Red Wings on Sunday, Bill Hoppe of the Times Herald reports. Neuvirth gets the start on the back end of back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday. He allowed four goals on 37 shots in his last start Tuesday, and will look for a better outing and some more offensive support Sunday against the Red Wings.

Neuvirth allowed four goals on 37 shots in Tuesday's shutout loss at the hands of the Maple Leafs. Considering that Buffalo was outshot by the ridiculous tally of 37-10, this is really a very decent effort from Neuvirth, who can only do so much with such an awful team in front of him. Even if he plays well, he's going to have an awfully hard time putting up fantasy-relevant stats with this kind of supporting cast -- not to mention the smaller end of a split with Jhonas Enroth.

Neuvirth will start Tuesday's game against the Maple Leafs. Neuvirth was stellar in Saturday's 29 save, 2-1 win over the Sharks, so he'll get a chance to start consecutive games. Neuvirth could take hold of the starting role over Jhonas Enroth if he continues to play well.

Neuvirth stopped 29 shots as the Sabres escaped with a 2-1 win over San Jose on Saturday. It was Neuvirth's first win of the season as the Sabres survived their California road trip with a 1-2-0 record. After being shut out by the Kings on Thursday, the Sabres pumped two goals past Alex Stalock, who faced only 15 shots. The Sabres were lucky they got so many goals past Stalock despite firing so few shots. The Sabres will cap off their four-game road trip against Toronto. No word on who will start that game, though with the win head coach Ted Nolan may go with Neuvirth again.

Neuvirth will start Saturday against the Sharks, reports Paul Hamilton from WGR Sports Radio 550. Neuvirth will made his third start of the season as the Sabres hope to avoid a sweep by all three California teams. Neuvirth is 0-2 this season with a 4.00 goals-against average and .896 save percentage. The Sharks are coming off three straight losses and are 1-1-0 at home.
