Michal Neuvirth made 28 saves in the Caps' 2-1 loss to New Jersey Friday night. Neuvirth, playing for just the third time since Nov. 22, kept the Caps within striking distance all game. Without Alex Ovechkin however, Washington could not get their offense going as Neuvirth drops to 3-5-1 on the year.

Michal Neuvirth will play between the pipes on Wednesday. It will be Neuvirth's second start since Nov. 22. The rise of Philipp Grubauer has largely marginalized Neuvirth, but a strong showing against Pittsburgh on Wednesday could go a long way towards changing that.

Michal Neuvirth will finally appear in a game on Friday. Neuvirth hasn't started since Nov. 22, but he'll face the struggling Toronto Maple Leafs. He has a 2.83 GAA and .912 save percentage in seven games this season. Michal Neuvirth might start for Washington on Thursday. Philipp Grubauer has lost four of his last five starts and Braden Holtby has been struggling lately, so Capitals coach Adam Oates is weighing his options. Neuvirth hasn't started since Nov. 22 and would consequently like to be traded.

Michal Neuvirth is only one of three Washington Capitals requesting a trade. Dmitry Orlov and Martin Erat are also requesting to leave the organization due to a lack of playing time. Neuvirth has been shunted aside and is now the number three goalie in Washington. He wants to be a number one netminder in the NHL and thinks he now needs to be traded to fulfill his destiny. It should be an interesting time in Washington in the foreseeable future.

Michal Neuvirth's agent Patrik Stefan wants to see his client get traded. That's not too surprising given that Neuvirth is now looking at the prospect of being the Capitals' third-string goaltender due to the rise of Philipp Grubauer. "It obviously doesn't seem like he's getting a chance to play and sitting in the stands doesn't do anything good for the club and obviously Michal," Stefan said. All the same, moving Neuvirth and his $2.5 million annual cap hit through 2014-15 might not be easy.

Michal Neuvirth did not dress on Saturday as the Capitals started Braden Holtby and had Philip Grubauer on the bench. Neuvirth did not appear happy with the decision as he was forced to watch the game from the press box rather than at the end of the bench. "I want to be a No. 1 goalie in this league," Neuvirth said after Saturday's morning skate. "If not here, maybe somewhere else." There could be trouble brewing in the Washington crease.
