Michal Neuvirth (lower body) might be sent back to Buffalo to be re-evaluated. Neuvirth has been sidelined since March 13 and hasn't been skating. The Sabres have two games left on their current road trip.

Michal Neuvirth (lower body) wasn't able to practice on Saturday and it's believed that he suffered a setback. The Sabres have already decided that Nathan Lieuwen will start Sunday against Vancouver and Matthew Hackett will face Montreal on Tuesday. That means Neuvirth won't be available to play until next Thursday at the earliest.

Michal Neuvirth (lower body) is aiming to be ready for Sunday's game against Vancouver. He practiced fully on Wednesday so he appears to be coming along nicely. "I want to make sure when I get back I'm 100 percent and can play every game and not miss any games," said Neuvirth. "We're going step by step. Today I was facing shots. I felt good. ... I want to be ready for Sunday."

Michal Neuvirth is hoping to make an impression in his stint with the Buffalo Sabres, but a lower-body injury will keep him out for at least a bit. It remains to be seen if Jhonas Enroth will get back-to-back starts or if call-up Nathan Lieuwen may play instead.

Michal Neuvirth's 51-save performance against the Hurricanes Friday may have earned him another start. He could get the call Saturday night against the Islanders despite the fact that Jhonas Enroth has been one of the better Sabre players since the trade deadline. Sabres goaltender Michal Neuvirth was remarkable Thursday night, stopping 51 shots in a 4-2 loss to the Hurricanes in Carolina. Neuvirth kept the Sabres even in the second, when Carolina raced to a 22-4 advantage in shots. Acquired prior to the NHL trade deadline from the Washington Capitals, Neuvirth had to make a half-dozen big saves. On the penalty kill, he stopped a bid from Andrei Loktionov with his left pad, then gloved a wrist shot from Drayson Bowman on the rebound. Neuvirth later snatched a close-range wrister from Joel Skinner. But the Sabres ended up with their fourth consecutive loss. Neuvirth's GAA is now 2.78 and his save percentage, .921.

Michal Neuvirth will start Thursday's game against Carolina. He stopped 42 shots in a 2-0 loss to Florida in his first outing with Buffalo last Friday. The Sabres have turned to Jhonas Enroth often following Ryan Miller's departure, but Neuvirth could see more action if he continues to play well.

Michal Neuvirth played admirably in his Sabres' debut, but his new team could not generate any offense in their 2-0 loss to Florida on Friday night. Michal Neuvirth blocked 42 of the 44 shots directed his way and kept the Sabres in the game, but as Ryan Miller and Jhonas Enroth could have warned him, it sometimes is not enough when you play for the 2013-14 Buffalo Sabres. The 25 year-old drops to 4-7-2 this season.
