Okposo made his Sabres debut Sunday, scoring a goal and adding an assist in a win over the Oilers.
EDGE Analysis
Okposo skated on the first line with Ryan O'Reilly, who notched four points. Okposo managed 21 goals in his final season with the Islanders and could be a very productive fantasy asset in Buffalo. He should continue to see top line minutes and will be a force on the talented top power-play unit anchored by Rasmus Ristolainen.

Okposo (knee) is good to go for Sunday's contest with the Oilers, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The former Islander was forced to skip Thursday's season opener against the Canadiens after sustaining a knee injury in practice. Thankfully, it appears the injury wasn't too serious and he'll make his debut with the Sabres, likely on a line with Sam Reinhart and Ryan O'Reilly. Despite being so early in the season, the Sabres are already dealing with some significant injuries -- namely to Jack Eichel (ankle) and Evander Kane (ribs) -- so Okposo will be leaned on to make an immediate offensive impact with his new team.

Okposo (knee) will "likely" play his first game as a Sabre on Sunday against Edmonton.
EDGE Analysis
Okposo sat out Thursday's opener against Montreal after taking a puck to the knee during practice but looks ready to go for Sunday. The Sabres desperately need his presence as they'll be without Jack Eichel (high-ankle sprain) or Evander Kane (cracked ribs). He'll likely slot into the top line on the right wing with Ryan O'Reilly at center. With the Sabres missing so many key pieces, Okposo will be heavily relied on, but he's not considered a top-tier player good enough to carry a team. His fantasy value will take a slight hit but still deserves a spot as a depth scorer on your roster.

Okposo will not play Thursday against Montreal, John Vogl of The Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Okposo injured his knee during practice last week on Monday when he got hit by a puck. With Jack Eichel (ankle) suffering an injury Wednesday, making his status for the opener unclear, the Sabres are now missing two of their top-six players. That opens the door for either Zemgus Girgensons or Sam Reinhart to play bigger roles. It's unknown when Okposo will return, but the injury is not believed to be particularly serious. The Sabres next game will be Sunday in Edmonton, giving Okposo plenty of time to recuperate.

Okposo (knee) didn't practice with the team Tuesday but did skate. He remains questionable for the opener.
EDGE Analysis
Okposo will likely need to rejoin the team at practice before the opener Thursday to guarantee his playing status so it may be best to check back again prior to the contest. Even if he does miss the game, the fact that he's on the ice would seem to suggest the issue won't cost him extended time.

Okposo (knee) was not on the ice for practice Tuesday, John Vogl of The Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Okposo's status for the season opener Thursday remains a question mark and his absence from practice Tuesday isn't a good sign. There's still a chance he goes Thursday but that would probably be preceded by a presence at morning skate.

Coach Dan Bylsma indicated Sunday that Okposo (knee) is "uncertain" for the opener Thursday against Montreal, Bill Hoppe of The Olean Times Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
The issue is not expected to be of the long-term variety and Bylsma suggested Sunday that Okposo has improved "exponentially" of late. When healthy, he figures to be a key piece as the team's top right winger alongside Tyler Ennis and Ryan O'Reilly and should serve on the top power play unit.

The Sabres aren't sure when Okposo (knee) will return to the ice after taking a puck to an unpadded part of the knee.
EDGE Analysis
Okposo's status for the season opener on Oct. 13 remains questionable until further updates. He was hit by a shot in practice and tried to stay, but was eventually forced to leave the ice and get his knee examined. Once healthy, he's slated to start on the first line on Ryan O'Reilly's right wing. He signed a seven-year contract with the Sabres this past summer and - if healthy - should be able to notch at least 25 goals and 60 points this season.

Okposo took a shot to the knee Monday at practice and will have to see a doctor, Paul Hamilton of WGR 550 reports.
EDGE Analysis
The puck hit a part of the knee where there was no padding, and even though Okposo tried to stay on the ice, was forced to go back to the dressing room. It's best to consider Okposo day-to-day for the moment until a clear diagnosis has been made. He's been practicing on the top line and the top power-play unit, and should assume those roles once again when the season starts.

Okposo signed a seven-year, $42 million contract with the Sabres on Friday, ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Buffalo may have lost out on the Steven Stamkos sweepstakes -- he's staying in Tampa on an eight-year, $68 million deal -- but Okposo is a significant asset in his own right. He generated 369 points (139 goals, 230 assists) over nine seasons with the Isles, and is fresh off a campaign for which he provided a career-high 23 power-play points. Okposo will be expected to resuscitate a Sabres offense that ranked 25th in the NHL in scoring last season. There's only a few brush strokes on the offseason picture at this point, but he didn't command such a lucrative deal on the open market to be slotted anywhere but within the top-six in 2016-17
