As expected, Okposo (illness) will play Saturday against the Flyers.
EDGE Analysis
Okposo wasn't able to practice Friday due to an illness, but was never in serious danger of missing Saturday's matchup with Philadelphia. The 27-year-old winger has played well this season, tallying 31 points (10 goals, 21 assists) in 39 games. He's expected to skate with Brock Nelson and Frans Nielsen on the Islanders' second line in Saturday's contest.

Okposo missed practice Friday due to an illness.
EDGE Analysis
The Islanders stated however that they do expect Okposo to play Saturday versus the Flyers. Okposo is having a solid season for the Islanders with 10 goals and 21 points. With this being a contract year and the Islanders seemingly unwilling to give him a new deal that would average north of $6 million a season, we could see Okposo mentioned prominently in trade talk as the trade deadline approaches.

Okposo scored a pair of goals and assisted on another in Sunday's win over the Stars.
EDGE Analysis
Two of the points came on the power play, giving Okposo 10 points with the man advantage on the season. The 27-year-old is working on a three-game point streak and is well on his way to topping the 50-point barrier for the third consecutive season.

Okposo (lower body) will return to the lineup for Sunday's game against the Maple Leafs, Owen O'Brien of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Okposo missed each of the past two contests because of the injury, but it appears he's set to return to the lineup despite a recent report that suggested he could be out longer. The winger should slot back in on the team's top line alongside John Tavares and Anders Lee.

Okposo has not played since Dec. 17, but he participated in Sunday's morning skate, putting him on track to return to action Sunday night. Okposo has played well this month when on the ice, totaling six points in eight games.

Okposo (lower body) may not be able to return immediately after the holiday break, reports Newsday.
EDGE Analysis
Originally it was thought that nine days off would be enough to get Okposo back after Christmas but now there is some doubt seeping in that this will be possible. The Islanders are being very secretive about his injury, shocking, but they did say that surgery is unlikely, but a return Saturday is far from a given. Apparently Okposo suffered the injury in early December and it has slowly gotten worse. The Islanders have been in a goal scoring slump so when Okposo is ready to play, the will welcome him back to the lineup with open arms.

Okposo is dealing with a lower-body injury that will keep him out for the next two games, per Oilers coach Jack Capuano.
EDGE Analysis
It's not clear how Okposo sustained the injury, but the upcoming holiday break comes at an ideal time for players trying to overcome injuries. For Okposo, he will have all the way until Dec. 27 to get healthy before his next contest.

Okposo factored in all of the Islanders goals in a 3-2 overtime win over the Blue Jackets. He scored two goals, including the game winner in overtime, and added an assist.
EDGE Analysis
Okposo had run hot and cold earlier this season, but seems to have his hand steady on the rudder of late. He has six points in his last six games and 16 in his last 17. We'd like to see more goals, though -- these were just his seventh and eighth in 30 games. Still, Okposo is tracking toward matching his career total of 69 and that's good enough for us.

Okposo grabbed an assist and a shootout goal against the Flyers on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Okposo got his assist on the power play, his seventh point on the man advantage. The winger leads the Islanders with 22 points on the year, however, he has just three points in his last seven contests.

Okposo and the Islanders are not currently involved in contract negotiations, reports the Islanders Point Blank.
EDGE Analysis
Okposo will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1 and could be seeking a contract with an AAV of $6 million per season. General manager Garth Snow may feel that his money is best spent elsewhere as Okposo has just been to up and down for his liking and the Islanders do have quite a few younger and cheaper players in the pipeline.
