Gabriel Landeskog recorded the game-winning goal midway through the third period and had an assist in the Colorado Avalanche's 3-2 win over the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday night. After a lull, which is expected for a 19-year-old rookie, Landeskog has six points in his last seven games. With five goals and 19 points, he may not have the offensive numbers of some other rookies, but he is making an impact in all situations for the Avs. Plus, he does have 116 shots (good for 27th in the league) this season, so it's not like he's struggling to get chances. Kevin Porter (third) and Stefan Elliot (fourth) also notched goals in the win.

Gabriel Landeskog scored a goal in a 3-2 shootout win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday night. The goal was the sixth of the season for the talented rookie. The Avalanche took advantage of a depleted Flyers' roster, but the victory did not come easy. Offensive defenseman Erik Johnson added his 13th assist of the season.

Gabriel Landeskog is enjoying a solid rookie season despite his lengthy goalless skid. He hasn't found the back of the net in 16 consecutive games, but he is still contributing in other avenues while playing in all situations for the Avalanche. "There are probably times during the course of a season where he's going to get a little tired," coach Joe Sacco said. "He plays a lot. He plays over 17 minutes a night and this is his first year in the league. He plays on power play, he plays in penalty killing, plays some four-on-four, he plays in all situations. So I don't see how we can say how we don't like his progress. It's definitely going in the right direction. He does a lot of things that don't show up on the scoresheet." Landeskog leads the team with 81 hits and 95 shots. He also owns a plus-5 rating and he has posted 13 points in 31 games. He will look to snap out of his goal drought on Thursday night in San Jose.

Gabriel Landeskog registered two assists on Sunday to give him 13 points in 27 games this season. Landeskog has been outshined by a surprisingly impressive and deep batch of rookies, but that doesn't mean he should be overlooked. He could be a solid top line forward some day and he's also one of the most well-rounded players in this season's Calder Trophy race. While he currently ranks sixth in points, he leads all rookies in hits and takeaways. He also ranks third among rookies with a plus-seven rating.

Gabriel Landeskog picked up an assist after moving to the second line on Friday. Coach Joe Sacco changed up his lines on Friday and Landeskog found himself on a line with Matt Duchene and Milan Hejduk which should be a big line for the Avs if they stay together. He is worth picking up in all keeper leagues and all but the shallowest of fantasy pools.

Gabriel Landeskog recorded his fifth goal of the season in a 5-2 loss to the red Wings Tuesday night. The rookie forward has so far exceeded all expectations with the way he has played at both ends of the ice. He's the rare example of an 18-year-old capable of handling himself at the NHL level. Milan Hedjuk scored the other Colorado goal in a losing effort.

Gabriel Landeskog sounded like he blamed himself for Edmonton's Andy Sutton blindside hit. Sutton elbowed Landeskog in the head and received a five-game suspension for his actions. Fortunately, Landeskog wasn't hurt. He admitted that he didn't see the hit coming, but he said that he "should have been more aware." That's probably the right attitude for Landeskog to have, but Sutton's hit was still a suspendable offense. Head hits have caused many long-term injuries and have by extension lowered the quality of the game we love. The players need to do whatever they can to defend themselves, but the league also has a major role to play in keeping hits to the head out of the game wherever possible.

Rookie Gabriel Landeskog, 19, leads Colorado with 43 shots and is second on the team with a plus-3 rating, trailing only hard-nosed defenseman Ryan Wilson (plus-7). "He definitely doesn't play his age or act his age," Avalanche teammate Chuck Kobasew said. "Very mature. Obviously had some good coaching along the way. He makes those little plays that are important. That's why he's out there killing penalties and out there in last minutes of games."

Gabriel Landeskog will stay with the Avalanche the rest of the season. Landeskog has four goals and an assist in nine games with Colorado on their third line and the Avs couldn't be happier. Scouts said that he was the most NHL ready player in the 2011 Draft and they were not wrong.
