Add former Stars, Flyers, and Blue Jackets head coach Ken Hitchcock to the list of people who compares Gabriel Landeskog favorably to Peter Forsberg. "I've seen him play twice now live. He reminds me so much of Peter Forsberg in his ability to maneuver in small spaces," said Hitchcock. "His strength and quickness in small spaces - I'm very impressed." Landeskog scored twice against Chicago on Saturday to give him four goals and five points in eight games this season. He's a safe bet to stay with the Avalanche for the entire 2011-12 season.

With Peter Mueller out (likely due to a concussion) don't be shocked if Gabriel Landeskog moves up to Colorado's second line. The 18-year-old rookie has excelled on the team's third unit and could be ready to take the next step becoming a top six forward. Of course, the Avs could make a trade to replace Mueller, but only if it won't involve moving top prospects Stefan Elliot or Duncan Siemens. Stay tuned.

Gabriel Landeskog scored twice in the teams 5-4 win over Chicago. Landeskog has been as impressive an 18 year old in the NHL can be, scoring five points in eight games. He plays on the teams third line so the opportunities to put up big totals isn't really there. Plus he is only 18 so consistency won't be there either. It would be ways better to pick a proven veteran the waiver wire than to take a chance on the rookie.

The Colorado Avalanche are getting huge production from their third line of Gabriel Landeskog, Ryan O'Reilly and Daniel Winnik. Coach Joe Sacco is thrilled with the play of the line, especially Landeskog, the second overall pick in the 2011 Entry Draft. "They've really set the tone for our team over the last few games," Sacco said. "It's been a line that's been able to play in the offensive zone and wear the opposition's defensemen down. They're getting rewarded for hard work. There's nothing fancy about 'em, but they're doing the job well." Landeskog was deemed to be the most ready player in the Draft and he certainly has not disappointed thus far. He has three points in four games and should be on someone's roster, especially in keeper leagues.

Rookie Gabriel Landeskog potted a goal and also registered an assist to help the Avalanche rout the Ottawa Senators 7-1 on Thursday night. Colorado took the lead midway through the first period when Landeskog beat Anderson and the Avs never looked back. The rookie is off to a great start to the year with three points in his first four games. Milan Hejduk and Matt Duchene each had a goal and an assist in the win tonight.

Gabriel Landeskog produced his first NHL goal with only 40 seconds left in regulation time to help the Colorado Avalanche pick up a 3-2 shootout triumph over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Only 8,986 turned out to watch the game, the smallest crowd for a regular-season game since Nationwide Arena opened. Rick Nash collected a goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets, who dropped to 0-4 on the season. T.J. Galiardi also scored for Colorado, while Radek Martinek had the other Columbus goal.

Gabriel Landeskog leads the Colorado Avalanche with 10 shots on goal through two games. Landeskog doesn't have a point yet, but Colorado as a team has scored just one goal in two games. He has averaged 16:34 minutes this season, including 1:23 minutes per game with the man advantage. Obviously the sample sizes are still very small, but for a rookie forward, those are some encouraging initial numbers.

Rookie Gabriel Landeskog had an impressive first NHL game. Despite the fact that the Avalanche were shutout, Landeskog took a team-high five shots on goal and looked strong in his NHL debut. Keep an eye on this youngster as he did his damage Saturday night while playing on Colorado's third line. Think of what he may do if given the chance to play alongside Matt Duchene or Paul Stastny.

Gabriel Landeskog is expected to start his rookie season in the NHL on a line with Ryan O'Reilly and Daniel Winnik. "If someone asked me to write a script for the first game it couldn't be any better than this," said Landeskog, a Swedish native. "Obviously, my big boyhood idol, Peter Forsberg, is having his jersey retired. It's going to be a fun night, a great experience." It's probably special to be playing against the Detroit Red Wings as well in his first contest, as they have a number of great Swedes in their lineup.

Gabriel Landeskog will play on a line with Paul Stastny and David Jones on Wednesday. Landeskog seems like a lock to make the Colorado Avalanche out of training camp and there's a good chance he'll begin the season on one of the team's top two lines. He might have a bit of fantasy value in the 2011-12 season, which is more than you can say for almost everyone else who was taken in the first round of the 2011 draft.
