Restricted free agent Chris Kreider has filed for arbitration. He played his first full season with the Rangers in 2013-14, where he generated 17 goals and 37 points in 66 games. Kreider elevated his game in the playoffs and he ended up with 13 points in 15 contests to help New York get to the Stanley Cup Final. The two sides will work to get a contract in place before a hearing takes place.

Chris Kreider has been excellent for the Rangers since returning from a fractured left hand. Coach Alain Vigneault likes the way he has meshed with Derek Stepan and Rick Nash on the top line. "Chris with [Stepan and Nash] have been a real consistent line for us," said the Rangers bench boss. "Bringing that speed back in, bringing that physical game he can play, it makes it real tough on the other team." Kreider has picked up four goals, six assists and 30 hits in 10 playoff games.

Chris Kreider didn't take part in Saturday's practice, but he's expected to play in Game 4 Sunday. He missed the session for a "maintenance" day, according to coach Alain Vigneault. Jesper Fast took his place alongside Dominic Moore and Rick Nash, but he'll probably be in the press box on Sunday night. Kreider has three goals and three assists in seven postseason matches, including four points against Montreal in the Eastern Conference Final.

Rangers forward Chris Kreider says Dustin Tokarski challenges shooters more than the goalie he's replacing in the Eastern Conference Final series, Carey Price. Kreider says Tokarski plays higher in the goal crease than Price and finds himself outside of the blue paint more than Montreal's usual No. 1 goalie. "He comes out pretty far," added Rangers forward Carl Hagelin. "He's really aggressive at the shooter, but at the same time he made some good saves when we made lateral plays. Overall he's a good goalie." Tokarski is 1-1 in the series against the Rangers. The Rangers enjoy a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series, with Game 4 going Sunday night. The winner of the series advances to the Stanley Cup final against either the Los Angeles Kings or Chicago Blackhawks, who are tied 1-1 in the Western Conference Final series.

Chris Kreider doesn't think the Canadiens will target him after he crashed into Carey Price in Game 1. Carey Price will miss the rest of the series as a result of that collision, but Kreider argues that it was an accident. "I look back on it and think I wish I would've put it in the net," Kreider said. "Obviously I was trying to score a goal. I put it wide. It was a bang-bang play. Everything happened pretty quickly." The Rangers and Canadiens will play Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final on Monday.

New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider might be a solid bet for some PIM in Game 2 against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday. Considering how irritated the Habs are about him crashing goalie Carey Price, Kreider might be more primed to get in a scuffle or two. It's a playoff game and he's an important piece for New York so it's no guarantee, either, though.

Chris Kreider scored and assisted for the Rangers as they defeated the Canadiens in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final 7-2. Seven different Rangers notched goals. Kreider's return has been a major boon to the Rangers' play during the playoffs as he deepens their forward group, adds another speed element and gives them a guy who is willing to go in front of the net. He has two goals and two helpers in five games.
