Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York reports that the Yankees have no interest in Wandy Rodriguez. The Yanks were linked to Rodriguez back at the non-waiver trade deadline, they but did not pull the trigger then and are apparently still content with their starting rotation. Rodriguez is expected to clear waivers Tuesday and should draw interest from a couple of contending teams. He has a sparkling 3.31 ERA in 23 starts this year, but is owed a whopping $10 million in 2012, $13 million in 2013, and $14 million via a vesting option for 2014.

Wandy Rodriguez is likely to clear waivers Tuesday. Rodriguez is due $10 million next season, $13 million in 2013 and carries a $13 million vesting option for 2014, so he should pass by all 30 MLB teams unclaimed. But the talented 32-year-old left-hander will draw plenty of interest once he hits the open trade market and could be dealt to a contender before the August 31 deadline. The Yankees expressed some interest back in late July.

Wandy Rodriguez became the latest pitcher to befuddle the Giants, shutting them out on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over eight innings in the 6-0 win. Sidney Ponson could probably come out of retirement and shut the Giants down at this point, so it's no surprise that someone with some actual talent held them in check. Wandy has given up only two earned runs over his last three starts as he showcases himself for a possible post-deadline trade. If he's still with the Astros, he'll carry a 3.31 ERA and 1.27 WHIP into next week's start in Colorado.

According to Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman, the Astros have placed Wandy Rodriguez and Brett Myers on waivers. An expected move, though both are likely to pass through unclaimed. Rodriguez is due at least $30 million over the next three seasons, while Myers will make $11 million in 2012 and has a $3 million buyout on a $10 million 2013 team option. Both could be helpful for contenders in need of pitching, but the Astros would likely have to agree to eat a ton of salary to get a deal done.

CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reports that Wandy Rodriguez is expected to be placed on waivers this week and that there's a "growing belief" he could be claimed. We assumed the Astros would place him on waivers, and it wouldn't be that surprising if someone claims him, though that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be dealt. Houston, though, seems desperate to continue to slash their payroll, so they might be willing to accept very little in return for the lefty as long as the interested team is willing to pick up all or most of Rodriguez's remaining contract, which will be at least $30 million over the next three years. The Yankees, Blue Jays and Indians all had interest in Wandy before the trade deadline.

Wandy Rodriguez held the Diamondbacks to just two hits in six scoreless innings of work on Monday evening, improving to 8-8 in a 9-1 Astros victory. He struck out five and walked four. Rodriguez bounced back nicely this evening after allowing five runs in five innings against the Reds his last time out. He'll take a 3.52 ERA and 1.29 WHIP into his Saturday start against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Wandy Rodriguez will take his regular turn in the rotation Monday despite dealing with a stiff neck. The Astros were considering pushing Rodriguez back a few days after the lefty had problems with his neck during his last start. "A pitcher never feels 100 percent," said Rodriguez. "I feel it, but I can throw. The manager makes a decision whether I pitch tomorrow or not. I talked to Brocail and I told him, 'I'm ready whenever you want. If you want me to pitch (Monday), I can throw. If you want to give me some extra days, that's better for me but it's your decision.'"

A rival executive tells SI's Jon Heyman that that chances Wandy Rodriguez is claimed off waivers is "NONE." It makes sense, as Wandy's remaining 2011 contract and the $25.5 million that he's owed over at least the next two seasons (2011: $7 million, 2012: $10 million, 2013: $13 million, 2014: $13 million vesting option w/$2.5 million buyout) is extremely unappealing. There's a good chance he gets dealt this offseason when teams have a clearer sense of their financial obligations.

According to Stephen Goff of the Astros Examiner, lefty Wandy Rodriguez is now unlikely to be traded. The Yankees, Blue Jays and Indians are said to be making a late push, but the Astros want the team that acquires Rodriguez to also assume a large majority of his remaining salary. And so far the clubs have all balked. There's about an hour left until the MLB non-waiver trade deadline.

Wandy Rodriguez showcased his stuff for potentially interested parties Thursday, allowing just three runs - one earned - on five hits and six walks over seven innings in a 5-3 win over the Cardinals. He struck out six. Rodriguez allowed three runs over the first three innings but then found his groove, retiring the last 13 batters he faced. It could be his last start in an Astros uniform, as he's on the market and is one of the better starters available. If he's still a member of the Astros next week, his next start will come against the Reds.
