Wandy Rodriguez pitched three scoreless innings Tuesday in a 4-1 victory over a Mets split-squad.
The Mets had their 'B' team out there today, with three likely regulars (Daniel Murphy, Ruben Tejada and Lucas Duda) and a bunch of minor leaguers in the lineup. Rodriguez made quick work of the group, and it looks like his early spring back woes are a thing of the past.

Wandy Rodriguez (back) threw live batting practice Monday afternoon in Astros camp.
Rodriguez was unable to finish a bullpen session last week due to tightness in his back, but he's already over the minor ailment and should have no restrictions going forward. The 33-year-old southpaw posted a 3.49 ERA and 166/69 K/BB ratio in 191 innings last season and seems likely to serve as Houston's Opening Day starter.

Wandy Rodriguez (back) remains on track to throw a scheduled bullpen session Saturday.
Rodriguez ended his bullpen session early Thursday due to tightness in his back, but he'll get back on the mound Saturday in what will be his last bullpen appearance before facing live hitting. The 33-year-old left-hander compiled a 3.49 ERA and 166/69 K/BB ratio across 191 frames last season.

Wandy Rodriguez ended his bullpen session early Thursday due to some tightness in his back.
Rodriguez expects to throw another bullpen session in the next two days, so it doesn't sound like a major concern. The 33-year-old left-hander compiled a 3.49 ERA and 166/69 K/BB ratio across 191 frames last season. We'd like him better in fantasy leagues if he was traded to a contender, but he should still be useful in 2012.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Astros have been surprised about the lack of trade interest in Wandy Rodriguez and Brett Myers this offseason.
Most any team could use either pitcher in their rotation, but their salaries are big roadblocks to any deal. With his $13 million option for 2014 becoming guaranteed if he's traded, Wandy is owed $36 million over the next three seasons. Myers' $10 million option for 2013 is likely to vest if he stays healthy in 2012, putting his price tag at $21 million over the next two years. Cafardo says the Astros "would assume a fair portion" of Rodriguez's contract in a trade, which is the opposite of what we've previously heard, but perhaps they're starting to reconsider their stance after receiving tepid interest in the left-hander.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Red Sox "have kept tabs" on the trade market for Wandy Rodriguez.
Morosi notes that the Sox would rather sign a free agent, but they aren't ruling out a trade to bolster their rotation. The Astros would love to remove Rodriguez's salary from their payroll, but interest in him over the winter has seemed pretty tepid. If he's not dealt this offseason, he's a good bet to be moved sometime prior to the July trade deadline.

Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports that the Marlins are interested in the Astros' Wandy Rodriguez.
Of course they are. The Marlins, in addition to their pursuit of Albert Pujols, have C.J. Wilson and Mark Buehrle on the back burner. If they fail to sign either of those tow left-handers, perhaps then they'll make a run at Rodriguez. The Astros reportedly have told teams that they will not eat any of Wandy's remaining contract. Knobler says the Marlins have also inquired on the A's Gio Gonzalez.

Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports that the Astros have told teams they are not willing to eat any of Wandy Rodriguez's contract in any trade.
It's not too unreasonable of them given how many teams are looking for pitching, but they probably shouldn't expect much in the way of prospects coming their way. Rodriguez is owed $36 million over the next three years if his 2014 option is picked up. Knobler does say, though, that the Astros would be willing to pick up half of Carlos Lee's and Brett Myers' deals in a trade. They'd surely have to pick up more than that of Lee's.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox have asked the Astros about the availability of Wandy Rodriguez.
There's no doubt that Rodriguez is on the trade block, and Cafardo said the Astros are "getting more and more inquiries about his availability." Given the lack of quality pitching on the free agent market, now is a good time for Houston to be seeing what they can get for the left-hander. The Rockies are another team known to have interest in Rodriguez.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Astros' decision on whether or not to trade Wandy Rodriguez hinges on the sale of the team.
Rosenthal writes that prospective owner Jim Crane is willing to deal Rodriguez in order to cut payroll, but current owner Drayton McLane, if he sticks around, might be more inclined to keep him. Rodriguez is due $36 million over the next three years if his 2014 option is picked up, a contract that Crane isn't keen on. The Rockies are one team that is likely to go after Wandy if he's made available.
