Shaw (foot) will start at first base Saturday against the Rays, Scott Lauber of ESPN Boston reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw had been dealing with a foot injury, but he entered Friday night's game as a replacement for the injured Hanley Ramirez, who fouled a ball of his left shin. With just two games before the All-Star break, the Red Sox may opt to give Ramirez a rest day on Sunday as well.

Shaw (foot) entered Friday night's game in the ninth inning for Hanley Ramirez, who left after fouling a ball off his left shin.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw, who was unavailable to start because of a foot injury, did not get an at-bat. For Ramirez, it was the second time in the last three days that he's fouled a ball off the left shin. With the arrival of Aaron Hill expected to eat into Shaw's playing time at third base, he does have some position flexibility and can find at-bats at first base or left field in a pinch.

Shaw (foot) is out of the lineup for Friday's matchup with Tampa Bay, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw, who's been dealing with a bruised foot, will get his second game off in eight as newly acquired third baseman Aaron Hill makes his first start for the Red Sox following his acquisition from the Brewers on Thursday. With Hill in the fold now, Shaw could see decreased action at the hot corner going forward but given he's also made 12 starts at first base this season, it's unlikely he'll disappear from the lineup.

Shaw will likely lose out on at-bats against lefties with Aaron Hill brought in from Milwaukee, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski would not so far as to label the team's third-base situation a platoon with Hill coming aboard, but he did readily acknowledge Shaw's struggled against lefties (.211 average, .620 OPS). Apparently, the Red Sox had been searching for a right-handed third base option "for a while" and were in talks for Hill long before Shaw suffered a bruised left foot in Wednesday's game. X-rays on Shaw's foot were returned negative and he is considered day-to-day.

Shaw's X-rays were negative Thursday and he is day-to-day with a bruised left foot, the Boston Globe's Pete Abraham reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is excellent news, as Shaw's foot was too swollen Wednesday night for the team to officially rule out a fracture, but now it appears he'll avoid a DL stint. That said, it would not be surprising if the Red Sox opted to sit him out through the All-Star break to get right for the second half. Brock Holt and Marco Hernandez loom as options to fill in at third base if Shaw misses further time.

Shaw left Wednesday's game with a bruised left foot and will get X-rays Thursday, the Boston Globe's Pete Abraham reports.
EDGE Analysis
He went 1-for-4 with a double, a run and a RBI prior to exiting Wednesday's contest. Marco Hernandez replaced him at third base and would figure to serve as a short-term fill-in option if Shaw misses further time. Fortunately, the Red Sox have a day off Thursday and then the All-Star break next week, so he should have ample time to rest up for the second half if it is indeed just a bruise.

Shaw went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double, two runs scored and two RBI in Boston's 12-5 win over Texas on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw has been grinding since mid-May and while there's been some notable production of late -- three extra-base hits and seven RBI in his previous five games -- there are still a lot of 0-fers dotting his game log. The good news is that Monday's boffo day came after a day off, his first full day of rest this season. We'll see if the rest day has a regenerative effect on Shaw's bat.

Shaw is out of the lineup Sunday against the Angels, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Even after including a three-hit, five-RBI outing June 28 against the Rays, Shaw has still been ineffective over his last seven starts, hitting just .179. With super-utility man Brock Holt (concussion) now back with the team after missing extensive time, the Red Sox have more options at their disposal if Shaw continues to struggle as the team's primary third baseman.

Shaw went 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBI in Tuesday's win against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw had a solo homer, a two-run double and a two-run single en route to his third five-RBI game of the season, his last of which came on May 10 against the A's. In 75 at-bats this month, the left-hand hitting third baseman had four total RBI before Tuesday's explosion. Shaw is now slashing .273/.338/.455 with nine home runs, 49 RBI and 40 runs through 280 at-bats this year.

Shaw is not in the lineup Monday against the Rays, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It looks like a routine day off for Shaw, who had started the previous three games at third base. Boston will go with Marco Hernandez at the hot corner Monday, and he'll bat ninth in the order against the Rays' Blake Snell.
