Shaw went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in Boston's 9-4 win over Tampa Bay on Monday. This was just his third multi-hit performance in the last 40 games.
EDGE Analysis
It's no secret to fantasy owners of Shaw that he's been slumping since June. Entering Monday's game, Shaw was hitting .197/.272/.351 in the previous 69 games. He told Tim Britton of the Providence Journal that he's made some recent adjustments mentally. "It felt like I was trying to do too much there," he said. "You get in a little slump and feel like you've got to get a hit every single time you come up to the plate. The last couple days, I've felt pretty relaxed and not trying to do too much." His playing time going forward, and possibly his presence on the postseason roster should Boston qualify for the playoffs, is dependent on his escape from his three-month slump.

Shaw did not start Friday night's game against Detroit, despite the Tigers throwing a right-hander, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brock Holt got the start at third base instead of Shaw, who is hitting just .206 since June 2 as opposing pitchers have developed a plan against him. Manager John Farrell said right-handers are going up in the zone with two strikes on Shaw to get him to chase. "The book is out," the manager said. "Players are always in that counter-adjustment phase, and Travis is in that right now." Shaw will get his starts going forward, but he's no longer considered the default starting third baseman against right-handers.

EDGE Analysis
Shaw will take a seat after starting three straight games at first base, all of which came while Hanley Ramirez was on the bereavement list. With Ramirez back in his regular role, Shaw will return to the bench as a reserve infielder.

Shaw went 1-for-4 with a double in Monday's win over Cleveland. His ninth-inning double snapped an 0-for-19 skid.
EDGE Analysis
There's been a lot of skidding for Shaw's bat since the beginning of June, when he was hitting .295 on June 1. Since then, Shaw's batting .207 with a .643 OPS in 57 games. With Hanley Ramirez on the bereavement list for another two days and Boston facing right handers Tuesday and Wednesday in Baltimore, Shaw should be in the lineup at first base until Ramirez returns.

Shaw went 2-for-5 with a homer and two runs scored in Thursday night's 3-2 extra-inning win over Seattle.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw got a rare start against a left-handed pitcher, playing first base because Hanley Ramirez (wrist) was unavailable. Prior to Thursday's game, Shaw had a .193 average and .618 OPS in 90 plate appearances against south paws, and since June 1 he's hitting just .216 against pitchers of any kind. Through early July, Shaw was a fixture in the lineup, but his decline at the plate prompted Boston to add Aaron Hill as a third-base platoon partner.

Shaw went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in Friday's 5-3 victory over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw launched a 430-foot homer to right in the fifth, extending the Red Sox lead to 3-0. It was the second round-tripper of July for the 26-year-old, after only going deep once in all of June. The third baseman now has 52 RBI on the season following Friday's production and is slashing a solid .269/.334/.464 over 308 at-bats.
