Shaw was traded Tuesday to the Brewers along with prospects Josh Pennington and Mauricio Dubon in exchange for reliever Tyler Thornburg, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
After claiming the Opening Day starting job at third base over Pablo Sandoval last season, Shaw got off to a hot start to April, but ended up fizzling in the second half. He batted just .194 after the All-Star break and finished the campaign with a .242/.306/.421 batting line across 530 plate appearances, but was a useful source of counting stats in a powerful Red Sox offense, homering 16 times and scoring 63 runs while driving in 71. Still, with the Red Sox having a long-term financial commitment to Pablo Sandoval along with third-base prospects Yoan Moncada and Rafael Devers waiting in the wings, Shaw was deemed an expendable piece heading into 2017 as the Red Sox looked to upgrade the roster elsewhere. With the move to the Brewers, Shaw should be in good position to serve as the team's primary third baseman, though he may end up having to settle for the large half of a platoon with utility man Hernan Perez. Shaw's acquisition figures to result in Jonathan Villar seeing more regular duties at the keystone this season.

Shaw is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Yankees, the Boston Herald's Evan Drellich reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw was given an opportunity to reclaim a firm hold on the third base job after top prospect Yoan Moncada flopped initially after his call-up, but Shaw has hit .111/.154/.139 with 10 strikeouts over his last 39 plate appearances. Brock Holt will start at third base and hit sixth Tuesday.

Shaw is out of the lineup Saturday against the Rays, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
He will sit in favor of Brock Holt following an 0-for-4 showing in the series opener against Tampa Bay -- just Shaw's second absence in the team's last 12 games. Shaw has failed to capitalize on his regular playing time this month, posting an underwhelming .232/.274/.411 slash line. Manager John Farrell said earlier this week that third base is "a spot that can further be grabbed."

Shaw is not in the lineup Monday against Baltimore, Scott Lauber of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw had been filling in at third base while Brock Holt (shoulder) was sidelined, but with Holt back in action Monday after missing seven games, Shaw will shift to a bench role. In the month of September, Shaw is 12-for-41 (.293) at the plate with 10 RBI, four doubles, and two home runs.

Shaw is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw and Aaron Hill are working in a platoon at third base with Yoan Moncada needing more time to develop, and it will be Hill getting the start Monday against Orioles southpaw Wade Miley.

Shaw has played his way back atop the depth chart at third base for the Red Sox, WEEI's Rob Bradford reports. "When he's in this type of run offensively, he's got a bat that can almost carry the team," manager John Farrell said. "We've gone through a lot of ups and downs with Travis throughout the course of this year. And if competition has found that edge for him, somehow or someway, even better for us."
EDGE Analysis
Yoan Moncada was promoted earlier this month with the expectation that he would take the bulk of the starts at third base, but he has really struggled and that has coincided with Shaw heating up. Over his last 11 games (38 plate appearances), Shaw is hitting .324/.368/.618 with two home runs and 10 RBI. Look for him to start against right-handers going forward, with Aaron Hill starting against southpaws and Moncada receiving the occassional spot start.

Shaw went 2-for-3 with a homer, two runs scored and three RBI in Wednesday night's win over San Diego.
EDGE Analysis
A slump since the beginning of June has rendered Shaw a forgotten man, cast aside by uber-prospect Yoan Moncada at third base, but he's responded of late. Over his last four starts, which is an increasingly rare event, Shaw is 8-for-17 with two homers, six runs and nine RBI. Shaw's start Wednesday came after Moncada struck out in seven consecutive at-bats, so there might be some room for Shaw to get more starts while the rookie is challenged by MLB pitching.

Shaw worked out in left field prior to Monday's game and there's a tentative plan to have him start there Wednesday, Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw's played very little left field -- five games in the minors, six innings in the majors -- but it appears to be his best shot at getting into the lineup. Yoan Moncada and Aaron Hill are platooning at third base while Hanley Ramirez is a fixture at first. Playing left field against right-handed starters would be his niche until Andrew Benintendi (knee) is ready to return.

Shaw went 3-for-6 with two doubles, a homer and five RBI in Friday night's 16-2 win over Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
This was Shaw's second three-hit game in his last three starts, but we expect to see him lose at-bats going forward. Boston manager John Farrell said prior to the game that top prospect Yoan Moncada will be the starting third baseman against right-handed starters while Aaron Hill gets the call against lefties. That leaves Shaw on the bench with potential fill-in duty at first base.

Shaw is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Rays, Scott Lauber of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw has started seven of the last eight games, but he'll take a seat Wednesday with left-hander Drew Smyly on the mound for Tampa Bay. Shaw is hitting .264 against righties on the season, compared to just .191 against lefties.
