Shoemaker pitched to live hitters for the first time since being struck in the head with a line drive and suffering a skull fracture last September and "felt great," Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker reported to camp healthy after undergoing offseason surgery and Wednesday's live session was another step in the right direction. He pitched with a protective piece inserted into his hat and reported no issues of discomfort. It is looking more and more like the head issue is completely behind him and we can treat Shoemaker like the solid middle of a rotation fantasy asset he was prior to his injury. With a 4.8 K/BB ratio, there is a possibility he could be even more than what he has shown so far in his young career.

Shoemaker (head) reported to camp and said he feels 100 percent, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
He missed the end of the 2016 season after getting hit in the head with a line drive in early September, resulting in a small skull fracture. He participated in full offseason workouts and was cleared for normal pitching activity last month, so it seems he is ready to go for spring. He posted a solid 2.83 ERA in 130.1 innings before the injury.

Shoemaker reported to camp Tuesday and said that his head feels 100 percent, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker suffered a skull fracture after being struck in the head with a line drive last season. He was forced to undergo offseason surgery and reportedly is back to full psychical health. This is great news for the Angels -- who are starving for pitching -- and fantasy owners who are hoping Shoemaker can pick up where he left off as a solid middle-tier fantasy pitcher with a mid-three ERA and a great strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Shoemaker (head) has been cleared for normal pitching activity after doing full workouts this offseason, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker missed the end of the 2016 season after he was hit by a line drive in early September, which resulted in a small skull fracture. He was on a roll at the time, posting a 2.83 ERA in the 130.1 innings leading up to the injury. He'll look to build on that success in spring training, where it appears he'll be a full go.

Shoemaker and the Angels avoided arbitration on Friday by agreeing to a $3.325 million deal, Jon Herman of Today's Knuckleball reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker's 2016 went from bad to great to terrifying. After putting up an 8.49 ERA in his first seven starts, Shoemaker somehow transformed into an elite pitcher, posting a 2.83 ERA and an 121-to-17 K/BB ratio for the rest of the season. However, things took a turn when he took a line drive to the head and had to miss the rest of the season. His first round of arbitration will result in him being paid like the solid starter that he is.

Shoemaker (head) was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker was hit in the head with a line drive during a contest in early September, but he is expected to make a full recovery prior to the start of the 2017 campaign. The 30-year-old is expected to slot in toward the top of the Angels rotation as long as he continues performing as he did from May onward (3.10 ERA, 127:20 K:BB).

Shoemaker (head) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
This move officially ends what was a tremendous bounce-back season for the 29-year-old Shoemaker. After struggling to a 9.15 ERA in April, Shoemaker went on to post a 3.10 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 127:20 K:BB over his final 22 starts. He was struck in the head by a batted ball earlier this month and required surgery to stop the bleeding, but a recent follow-up CT scan came back negative and he is expected to make a full recovery ahead of next season.

Shoemaker (head) underwent a follow-up CT scan Sunday morning, which came back negative.
EDGE Analysis
While the results of the scan are encouraging, it's still uncertain when or if Shoemaker will return this season. Daniel Wright has since claimed Shoemaker's spot in the rotation and will likely continue to make starts so long as the right-hander remains sidelined.

The Angels announced Tuesday that Shoemaker (head) has been released from the hospital.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker underwent surgery Sunday to halt bleeding he suffered after being struck on the head by a batted ball, and it appears everything went as planned with the procedure. Shoemaker was placed on the disabled list, and his status for the rest of the season is uncertain, but he is on his way toward making a successful recovery.

Shoemaker (head) was placed on the 15-day DL on Monday, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker underwent surgery Monday afternoon to stop the bleeding that resulted from being struck in the head with a batted ball in Sunday's game. His road to recovery has started, but it's still not surprising to see him placed on the DL, even though the team has extra roster spots available due to September roster expansion. It remains to be see whether or not Shoemaker will pitch again in 2016.
