Shoemaker (4-9) gave up three earned runs on five hits and two walks over five-plus innings in Friday's 9-5 victory over the Orioles. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty secured the victory despite giving up a pair of homers to Adam Jones and Jonathan Schoop, and an RBI single to Mark Trumbo in the sixth before getting the hook. Shoemaker had the benefit of pitching with a 5-1 lead after two innings, and an 8-1 advantage after four frames. Although his 4-9 record doesn't inspire much confidence, the 29-year-old's performances haven't been as bad as that mark would imply, and he recently put together a stretch of seven quality starts in eight trips to the mound. He'll look to continue turning his season around in his first post-All-Star-break start.

Shoemaker (3-9) was hit hard in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox, allowing five runs on nine hits and two walks in 4.2 innings while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
He actually kept Boston off the scoreboard for four innings before everything unraveled in the fifth. Shoemaker had posted quality starts in seven of his last eight trips to the mound while striking out at least six batters in each of those outings, so perhaps he was due for a clunker. Things won't get any easier for him in his next start Friday in Baltimore, however.

Shoemaker threw six shutout innings, allowed five hits and one walk, and struck out six, but wound up with a no-decision Monday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker has been absolutely brilliant over his past four starts, all quality starts. In 27.1 innings, he has allowed just five runs (four earned, 1.31 ERA) with 31 strikeouts against five walks. Unfortunately, the Angels have left him with three no-decisions and a loss over that stretch. One has to imagine Shoemaker's decision luck will turn around if he keeps pitching anywhere near this level, but the 32-45 Angels have been particularly awful in June, with an 8-16 record. Shoemaker has been providing big value in rates and strikeouts, but unfortunately the Angels' offense and bullpen can't be trusted to hold up their end of the bargain.

Matt Shoemaker took a tough loss Wednesday against the Astros, allowing three runs on eight hits in 7.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker looked sharp for the first seven innings of his outing, but the wheels came off a bit in the eighth, when he allowed a run on three hits before departing. Late-inning struggles aside, Shoemaker has been the Halos' best pitcher in the June, having tallied a 2.57 ERA with 39 strikeouts over 35 innings. He will try to lead his team to a victory when he faces the Astros once again Monday.

Shoemaker was sharp in Friday's no-decision versus the Athletics, allowing one earned run with seven strikeouts compared to just one walk across six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker threw 15 first-pitch strikes and lowered his ERA for the seventh straight outing, but the impotent Angels offense couldn't pick him up and he extended his winless streak to four starts. The right-hander has been a revelation over his last six appearances, with a stellar K/9 rate of 11.97 and an ERA of 1.84, and he will look to get back in the win column Wednesday at Houston.

The bullpen blew Shoemaker's (3-7) best performance of the season, leaving him with a no-decision versus the Indians on Saturday. He pitched eight scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out 11.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Mike Scioscia felt 108 pitches were enough for Shoemaker, and replaced the dominant starter with his closer Houston Street for the final frame. Within minutes, Shoemaker watched his masterful performance erased when the Indians tagged Street for three runs on four hits and a walk. If there's any consolation, Shoemaker lowered his ERA to 4.76 - its best mark since April 19.

Shoemaker (3-7) allowed four runs in 7.2 innings in Monday's loss to the Yankees. He allowed eight hits and struck out six without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The righty tossed six shutout innings before being tagged for four runs between the seventh and eighth innings. After a horrendous April, Shoemaker has been more good than bad of late, lasting more than seven innings in each of his last four starts. Shoemaker will carry a 5.40 ERA into his start Saturday against the Indians.

Shoemaker (3-6) pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on 10 hits while striking out eight in Wednesday's loss to the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker had been stellar in his last two outings, becoming the first player in Angels history to post back-to-back starts with 10-plus strikeouts and no walks. He extended his streak of not issuing a free pass, although the Tigers took advantage of Shoemaker's strike-throwing abilities by lighting him up for 10 hits, the most the right-hander has allowed this season. The 29-year-old will take a 5.50 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP into his next start on Tuesday against the Yankees.

Shoemaker (3-5) went 8.1 innings in a win against the Astros on Friday, allowing only two runs on seven hits with 11 strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
It was Shoemaker's second straight gem, and even though he allowed two runs this time, he came two outs away from going the distance. The 29-year-old righty has struck out 23 batters in his last 15.2 innings, and he's definitively on the right track despite an ugly 5.96 ERA. He will look to maintain his recent run of success in his next start against the Tigers on Wednesday.

Shoemaker turned in a gem Saturday versus the Orioles, striking out 12 without issuing a walk and allowing just three hits across 7.1 scoreless innings. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander turned in what was far and away his best start of the season, but interim closer Joe Smith allowed three runs in the top of the ninth to rob him of his second straight win. Despite the strong outing, Shoemaker's ERA still sits at an unsightly 6.81, and he will look to build off of Saturday's performance in his next start Friday versus Houston.
