Shoemaker (2-5) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts over five innings in Monday's win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker pounded the zone, with 57 strikes in 91 pitches and 17 first-pitch strikes to 23 hitters. He probably would have gotten the chance to finish the quality start in an American League stadium, but his start ended when the Angels pinch hit for him in the sixth inning. Underwhelming as it might be, this start marks a step in the right direction, as Shoemaker had allowed at least four runs and pitched four innings or fewer in each of his past three starts heading into this one. Shoemaker owns a 22:13 K:BB in 29.2 innings with an 8.49 ERA as hitters seem to have figured him out since his breakout season back in 2014.

Shoemaker (1-5) struggled through four innings Wednesday against the Cardinals, giving up four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out just one.
EDGE Analysis
To be fair, all four runs came in the second inning, but Shoemaker was able to toss only one clean frame and needed a whopping 87 pitches to get 12 outs. Amazingly, this start actually slightly improved his ERA -- from 9.15 to 9.12. Obviously, there's no room for that in any fantasy rotation unless you play in a bizarro league that rewards pitchers for giving up runs.

The Angels recalled Shoemaker from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker will return to the big club just over a week after being sent down. He struggled with the Angels earlier this season, but he did give up just one earned run over six innings in his lone start with Salt Lake. He will jump right into the rotation and start Wednesday night against the Cardinals.

Shoemaker will be recalled to start Wednesday against the Cardinals, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cory Rasmus got the first start in place of Garrett Richards (elbow) last week, but Shoemaker can give the team more length and thus will get the first crack at replacing Richards on a full-time basis. The long ball has plagued Shoemaker since the start of last year, and until he works some things out, Shoemaker will remain a high-risk play in all fantasy leagues.

According to Mike DiGiovanna of the LA Times, Shoemaker is the favorite to be recalled to take the rotation spot of Garrett Richards (elbow), who is likely headed for Tommy John surgery.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker was sent to the minors last weekend after a dreadful start to the season, but his minor-league stint may be brief, as the Angels need a replacement for the injured Richards, and Shoemaker is likely the top starting pitcher option the team has at the Triple-A level.

Shoemaker was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday, MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels won't need a fifth starter again until May 14, so it make sense for the team to skip the struggling Shoemaker's spot in the rotation and get by with four starters for the next two weeks. As was frequently the case last season, Shoemaker has been doomed by the long ball in his first five starts, allowing six homers en route to a 9.15 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over 20.2 innings.

Shoemaker (1-4) allowed seven runs, six of which were earned, on nine hits while striking out one over 2.1 innings to take the loss Saturday at the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
A six-run third inning capped off by a three-run homer by Mitch Moreland ended Shoemaker's night early. He's now had two separate starts in which he's allowed six earned runs in exactly three innings, and his ERA now sits at 9.15. He'll make his next start Friday against the Rays.

Shoemaker (1-3) allowed seven runs, six of which were earned, on six hits and three walks while striking out four over three innings to take the loss Sunday against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker was hammered for four runs in the first inning before allowing an additional three runs to score in the fourth inning of a game the Angels would lose. Coming into this game, he had only allowed two runs over his last 12.1 innings of work, but with his rough outing, he has a 6.38 ERA along with a 1.64 WHIP. He'll make his next start Saturday at the Rangers.

Shoemaker (1-2) allowed just two runs on six hits and a walk over 6.1 innings Tuesday but still took the loss Tuesday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
After a disastrous first start (3 IP, 6 ER), Shoemaker has recorded two quality starts in a row with just seven hits allowed in 12 combined innings. His ERA is still rough at 4.70, but he has recovered well with nine strikeouts against four walks and no home runs allowed over those past two starts.

Shoemaker (1-1) pitched six scoreless innings, allowed just one hit while walking three and striking out five in Wednesday's win over the A's.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker got shelled last week against the Rangers, but rebounded nicely Wednesday. His grip on the fifth spot in the team's rotation is shaky at best. The Angels pitching staff is hampered by injuries to CJ Wilson and Andrew Heaney, so the 29-year-old righty will have some time to show he is worthy of a long-term role.
