Shoemaker underwent successful surgery Sunday night to stop bleeding he suffered as a result of being struck on the head by a batted ball during Sunday's game.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels announced that Shoemaker was resting comfortably after the procedure, so he will now begin the process of recovering from the small skull fracture and bruise he suffered Sunday. Shoemaker will not start next time through the Angels' rotation, and given the nature of his injuries, it remains to be seen if he will pitch again this season.

Shoemaker has been diagnosed with a small skull fracture and a bruise after being struck by a batted ball in Sunday's game, Pedro Moura of the LA Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker's injuries certainly give one pause, but he remained conscious on the mound after being struck and was able to speak when examined afterward. The Angels have yet to provide any sort of timetable for Shoemaker's return, but they figure to proceed with caution.

Shoemaker was removed from Sunday's game after being struck on the head by a line drive, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker stayed down and was checked out by trainers after being struck, but fortunately he was able to walk off the field, albeit with a towel on his head. Shoemaker's status for his next start will be uncertain until an update is released, but he will likely have to cleared of any lingering symptoms before he takes the mound again.

Shoemaker (9-13) held the Reds to two runs on seven hits in seven innings, while striking out seven without a walk in Monday's win.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker got plenty of offensive support, as the homer-happy Angels offense handed him a 7-2 lead through three innings. It looked like he was going to have a rough outing after allowing a first-inning two-run homer to Joey Votto, but the right-hander settled down nicely for his third consecutive quality start. He'll look to maintain his momentum Sunday in Seattle.

Shoemaker (8-13) allowed just three hits, a walk, and no runs over six innings against the powerful Blue Jays, striking out three and earning the win.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker lowered his ERA to 3.98 with the stellar outing, doing so against a Toronto team that is second in the MLB in home runs. Shoemaker's win snapped an 11-game road losing streak for the Angels, who are a disappointing 53-73 despite another big year from phenom Mike Trout. Shoemaker's poor record can largely be chalked up to run support, although he received an ample eight runs Wednesday. Shoemaker entered the start with just 3.08 runs of support per game, the lowest of any AL starting pitcher. He'll hope to get a similar effort from the Angels' offense on Monday against the Reds.

Shoemaker fell to 6-12 with Sunday's loss to the Mariners despite allowing three runs with three strikeouts and no walks across seven quality innings.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker was excellent aside from the fourth inning, when all of the damage against him was done as he allowed five men to reach base. He was able to rebound and was not scored upon again, but James Paxton's gem on the other side had already doomed him to another defeat. Shoemaker has now tossed quality starts in four of his last five outings, lowering his ERA to 4.07, and he will hope the offense can do a better job of picking him up Saturday versus Cleveland.

Shoemaker (6-11) allowed two runs on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts over seven innings in a win Tuesday over the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker got tagged for a pair of solo home runs and was lucky to escape with such little damage considering he allowed nine baserunners. This marks the fifth time already this season Shoemaker has allowed two homers in a start. That has been limiting factor for him the past two years -- he owns a 4.08 ERA this season with 15 homers allowed in 21 starts after he posted a 4.46 ERA last year, largely thanks to 24 home runs allowed in as many outings.

Shoemaker (5-11) gave up five runs on eight hits and a walk in Wednesday's loss to the Royals. He struck out just one.
EDGE Analysis
Considering Shoemaker had recorded 11- and 13-strikeout games quite recently, it's startling to see him fall back to just a single whiff even against a contact-oriented time like the Royals. Considering the progress he's made keeping the ball in the park, it'd be nice to get more than mediocrity out of Shoemaker's ERA (4.17) and WHIP (1.26), but most of the ugliest numbers there came way back in April. Of course, that's not to say he's been much better in July -- he hasn't.

Shoemaker (5-10) pitched 6.2 innings Friday, allowing two runs, five hits and one walk while striking out five Astros in the loss.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker's frustrating season continued with another quality start going down the drain due to a lack of run support. He has tallied 11 quality starts this season, but has a record of 3-4 in those outings. His latest effort pushed his ERA (3.99) under 4.00 for the first time since the 2014 season. Shoemaker will continue trudging along in his next start Wednesday against the Royals.

Shoemaker twirled a complete-game shutout against the White Sox on Saturday, striking out 13 without allowing a walk en route to his fifth win of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Shoemaker had turned in back-to-back mediocre performances prior to the outing Saturday, but showed his ability to dominate by notching the highest strikeout total of his career. The 29-year-old still has a bit of an issue with homers and hard contact, but has been able to keep hitters at bay with an impressive 110:22 strikeout-to-walk-ratio. He will take a 4.08 ERA into his outing against the Astros on Friday.
