Matt Moore limited the Mariners to one run and six hits in six innings Tuesday.
He struck out nine and walked just one. Another nice outing for Moore, but it didn't come against much of a lineup. Moore hasn't allowed more than one run in an outing since July 22 -- and in that start, he surrendered two over eight innings against the Tribe. Moore slashed his ERA by almost a run in just over a month. He's 9-7 with a 3.60 ERA.

Matt Moore limited the Blue Jays to one run and two hits in six innings to win Thursday.
Another nice outing for Moore, but it didn't come against much of a lineup: the Jays had a cleanup hitter with a .341 slugging percentage (Yunel Escobar) and in Jeff Mathis, Omar Vizquel and Adeiny Hechavarria, they probably trotted out the worst seven-through-nine combo that any AL team has used this year. Still, Moore has now won three straight, allowing just one run in the process. He's 9-7 with a 3.73 ERA.

Matt Moore shut down the Orioles on Friday, allowing six hits and three walks over 5 1/3 scoreless innings.
Moore punched out six in the game, but labored early and threw 108 pitches without making it out of the sixth inning. He has pitched much better in the second half of the season, going 5-2 with a 2.93 ERA and 47/27 K/BB ratio over nine starts spanning 55 2/3 innings. He'll look to keep things rolling when he squares off against the Blue Jays at home on Thursday.

Matt Moore shut out the Angels for 6 1/3 innings in the Rays' 3-0 win Saturday.
It's just the second time this season that Moore has gone without allowing a run. He's definitely pitched better of late, with three quality starts and a near miss in his five outings this month. Still, he seems like a long shot to finish in the top three in the Rookie of the Year balloting with his current 7-7 record and 4.01 ERA.

Matt Moore struggled with his command in Tuesday's victory over the Indians, walking five while allowing two runs on three hits over five-plus innings.
Moore punched out just three in the game. He cruised through the first three innings, then completely lost the strike zone in the fourth and fifth innings. While he's been maddeningly inconsistent this year, the young lefty still possesses dynamic stuff and an incredibly bright future. He'll look to get back on track when he takes on the Mariners at home on Sunday.

Matt Moore was pummeled in a loss to the Indians on Saturday, allowing five runs on five hits over 4 2/3 innings of work.
Moore also walked five while striking out three in the game. All five hits that he allowed were doubles. The Indians pushed three runs across in the second inning, then added another pair in the third inning. Moore settled down nicely over his final two frames, but the damage had already been done. The 23-year-old phenom will attempt to regroup over the All-Star break, and improve on his 5-6 record and 4.42 ERA in the second half of the season.

Matt Moore yielded four runs in 7 1/3 innings versus the Royals on Wednesday.
Mike Moustakas and Alcides Escobar homered off Moore, which is pretty discouraging. Moustakas is a perfectly legitimate power hitter, but not against lefties. In fact, he didn't have a single homer in 154 career at-bats against lefties entering this one. Escobar had just one homer this season. Moore's certainly pitching better now than he did during the first six weeks of the season, but the moments of dominance have been few and far between.

Matt Moore gave up two runs over five innings Thursday in a no-decision against the Nationals.
Moore limited the Nationals to just three hits, but also walked four and needed 93 pitches to get through five innings. It was his shortest outing since May 22. Still, the rookie left-hander lowered his ERA from 4.16 to 4.13 and has allowed two runs or less in five out of his last six starts. Moore's command and control are a work in progress, but at least he's getting better results recently.

Matt Moore held the Orioles to two runs (one earned) on seven hits and three walks in six innings of Sunday's 8-4 win.
Moore struck out four in improving to 2-5. It wasn't exactly a stellar afternoon, but Moore has now been quality in three of his past four starts, dropping his ERA from 5.31 to 4.45. Even if it's slowly, Moore is steadily improving. He'll bring a 1.48 WHIP and 62/31 K/BB ratio into his start in Miami next weekend.

Matt Moore was a hard-luck loser Monday to the White Sox, limiting them to just two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out 10 over seven innings.
It was his best start of the season, but the White Sox' Chris Sale was just a little better. The quality start was only Moore's fourth in 10 tries, while the 10 punchouts fell one short of his career high. Hopefully this outing is a sign of things to come from the youngster. Moore will carry a 4.76 ERA and 1.46 WHIP into this weekend's start against the Orioles.
