Matt Moore allowed just two runs but walked five over 4 2/3 frames against the Pirates Monday.
He also surrendered six hits and struck out three. With a 4.67 ERA and 13 walks over 17 1/3 Grapefruit League innings, Moore hasn't performed as hoped this spring, especially after he issued 81 walks during his rookie campaign. We still like him as a breakout candidate, but he has to start showing better control.

Matt Moore allowed just an unearned run over five innings and struck out seven Friday in the Rays' 3-2 defeat of the Phillies.
That's a better showing for Moore, who had given up seven runs and six walks in 7 2/3 innings this spring. He walked two today, and all three hits he allowed were singles.

Matt Moore surrendered three runs in 3 2/3 innings Sunday in his start versus the Red Sox.
David Ross's homer supplied all of the runs. We're expecting a breakthrough season from Moore this year, but he's yet to show much while allowing seven runs and walking six in 7 2/3 innings this spring. It'd at least be nice to see him get the walks under control over the next couple of weeks.

Making his spring debut, Matt Moore gave up two runs in 1 1/3 innings out of the pen Thursday against the Tigers.
Moore was scheduled to throw two innings, but he was shaky in walking two and allowing three hits. Read nothing into the fact that he was pitching in relief: the Rays were simply more interested in seeing what Roberto Hernandez could do with the start.

Matt Moore delivered a terrific performance in Saturday's victory over the White Sox, allowing just one hit and two walks over 5 1/3 scoreless innings.
Moore racked up five strikeouts on the afternoon. It was a stellar bounce-back effort from the young left-hander who hadn't gone more than four innings in any of his previous three starts. He has struggled mightily to meet the lofty expectations set for him before the season, and has faded quickly down the stretch, but Moore has still had a solid season for a 23-year-old rookie. He'll finish the regular season with an 11-11 record, 3.81 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 175/81 K/BB ratio over 177 1/3 innings. His 175 strikeouts represent a new rookie record among Rays' hurlers.

Matt Moore struggled in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Saturday, allowing two runs on three hits and a pair of walks in just 2 2/3 innings.
Rays manager Joe Maddon didn't like what he saw from Moore, and wasn't going to take any chances. Though the youngster won't admit it, Moore appears to be tiring down the stretch, as he's failed to last longer than four innings in each of his last three starts. He now owns a 10-11 record, 3.92 ERA and 171/79 K/BB ratio in 171 innings on the year. He's scheduled to take on the White Sox in Chicago on Friday.

Matt Moore had his shortest outing of the season Sunday, lasting just three innings while giving up five runs on three hits and four walks in a loss to the Yankees.
Moore allowed all five tallies in the decisive five-run third inning. Though his velocity was back up in this one, it's the third straight start where he's really struggled and the second straight outing that he's failed to record an out past the four inning. Moore will try to rebound next weekend against the Blue Jays.

Matt Moore struggled in Tuesday's loss to the Orioles, allowing three runs (two earned) in four innings.
Moore walked three and struck out four. He had a difficult time commanding the strike zone, needing 94 pitches to get through his four frames. J.J. Hardy's two-run shot in the third inning provided the biggest blow. The young Rays lefty will head into Sunday's matchup with the Yankees with a 10-10 record, 3.68 ERA and 165/73 K/BB ratio.

Matt Moore allowed six runs (four earned) on eight hits and one walk in 6 1/3 innings of Wednesday's loss to the Yankees.
There was speculation on Twitter that Moore was tipping his pitches, though he did manage to rack up nine strikeouts. The non-quality start was just Moore's third in 10 outings since the All-Star break. Moore is the owner of a 2.44 ERA and 65/20 K/BB ratio in 62 2/3 innings since the Midsummer Classic. He'll get the Orioles in Baltimore on Wednesday.

Matt Moore was solid in a no-decision against the Athletics on Friday, allowing three runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings.
Moore fanned seven and walked just one in the game. The A's broke through with two outs in the fourth inning, as Josh Donaldson and Brandon Moss delivered RBI singles. A Derek Norris RBI double in the seventh tied the game at 3-3 and completed the damage against Moore. After struggling early on, he's really been able to right the ship in the second half of the season. He'll take a 10-7 record, 3.60 ERA and 145/66 K/BB ratio over 150 innings into Thursday's skirmish against the Blue Jays in Toronto.
