Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman will throw a 40-pitch simulated game next Monday as he continues his recovery from a torn ACL, according to Sportsnet.ca. Barring any setbacks, Stroman is expected to begin a rehab assignment following Monday's outing with an eye on a September return. His role upon return is uncertain, as the club could take things slowly and use him in a relief role. Stroman had originally been scheduled to make a rehab start on Friday, but general manager Alex Anthopoulos said Tuesday that Stroman will slot for a start at Triple-A Buffalo during the first week of September. “It’s easier to control the conditions in a sim game,” Anthopoulos said. “With sim games we can roll over an inning, etc. We can control everything. Medical staff just felt this is the right way to go. I’ve seen videos of his bullpen sessions, and he looks great."

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman is expected to face live hitters Friday as he continues to recover from a knee injury, according to Sportsnet. Stroman threw his third bullpen session since his March ACL surgery on Monday morning and reported continuing to feel well. However, he remains without a timeline for return. The 24-year-old right-hander suffered the injury during a drill in spring training and has been out since. The injury was poorly timed for Stroman, who was set to enter his first full season after an impressive 2014 rookie campaign in which he posted a 3.65 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 111 strikeouts in 130.2 innings for the Blue Jays. He is expected to be stretched out as a starter over the course of an eventual rehb assignment, so Stroman's potential return in September could unseat No. 5 starter Drew Hutchison from Toronto's rotation.

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman will be stretched out as a starter before the team decides how he will be used after he returns from a knee injury, according to Sportsnet. Stroman has not pitched this year after tearing his left ACL in spring training, but he is likely to return in some capacity before the end of the regular season.

Stroman (knee) is not ruling out a possible September return, SportsNet's Barry Davis reports. He said Saturday that his rehab is going great and it feels like he has a brand new knee. Depending on where the Jays are in the standings, they could always opt to be cautious with Stroman even if he is medically cleared to pitch later this season. In most leagues it does not make sense to stash a player who could make a handful of starts in September, but it's worth noting that the possibility exists that he may pitch yet in 2015.

Stroman (knee) has been placed on the 60-day DL, Sportsnet's Mike Wilner reports. Stroman is expected to miss the entire 2015 season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL, so the move is merely procedural, as it will clear up a spot on the 40-man roster. If offseason rehab goes well, look for Stroman to make a bid for a rotation spot in 2016.

Stroman (knee) underwent successful ACL surgery Thursday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports. Stroman will likely miss the entirety of the 2015 season, but will now begin the rehab process as he prepares for the 2016 season. Marco Estrada and Daniel Norris now stand increased chances of making the rotation, while Aaron Sanchez could also be utilized in that role.

Stroman has been diagnosed with a torn left ACL and will be out for the season. It's not certain when Stroman suffered the injury, but it occurred while he was participating in a bunting drill, according to Blue Jays broadcaster Mike Wilner. Stroman is one of the top young hurlers in the game, but he will be forced to spend the year recovering instead of pitching a full season at the big league level for the first time. With Stroman sidelined, Marco Estrada and Daniel Norris move up the pecking order in the Blue Jays' starting rotation, and Aaron Sanchez's chances of working as a starter this season increase.

Stroman picked up a save after throwing four scoreless innings in relief against Baltimore. He allowed one hit and struck out four. He puts an exclamation point on a very successful rookie season that saw him collect 11 wins while posting a very solid 3.65 ERA. He has already given notice he intends to be a mainstay in Toronto's rotation for years to come.

Stroman (suspension) is unlikely to make another start this season, Barry Davis of Sportsnet.ca reports. The expectation was that Stroman would make one more start Friday, after having his suspension reduced from six to five games, but Drew Hutchison is now penciled in to start the opener against Baltimore. Stroman will instead be available out of the bullpen once reinstated. Whereas the 23-year-old Stroman posted a 3.29 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in his 20 starts, he's given up nine earned runs in just 6.1 innings out of the bullpen this season. He's all but assured of a rotation spot coming out of spring training.
