Stroman has reached an agreement with Major League Baseball to have his suspension reduced from six to five games, Sportsnet.ca reports.
Stroman was issued a six-game suspension Wednesday for allegedly throwing at the head of Orioles' catcher Caleb Joseph, but was able to have it reduced one game following his appeal. He'll begin serving the suspension immediately, which would make him eligible for a return Friday against the Orioles. Stroman had originally been scheduled to start Thursday, but it seems likely that a mix of bullpen options will cover for him in that outing.

Stroman has been suspended for six games for throwing at Caleb Joseph's head in Monday's game, but he will appeal and thus the suspension won't begin until the appeal is heard, the Toronto Star's Brendan Kennedy reports.
Stroman's next scheduled start is Saturday in New York, so that is up in the air until the appeal is heard. There's no scenario where Stroman wouldn't be able to make at least one more start this year, because if the suspension begins before Saturday, he'll still be able to pitch next week. However, it does make it unlikely that Stroman will be able to make two more starts this season, which lessens his value for owners in single-season leagues chasing counting stats.

Stroman lost Monday against the Orioles as he pitched six innings and allowed five runs, nine hits and two walks to go along with three strikeouts.
Stroman has had some rough starts of late as he has allowed five earned runs in four of his last eight starts to increase his ERA from 3.03 to 3.80. He has shown plenty of promise this season, but might be tiring down the stretch of his rookie season.

Stroman's next start has been pushed back to Monday against the Orioles, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
The 23-year-old hasn't fared particularly well against the Rays this season, with seven earned runs allowed over 11 innings, so the Blue Jays will instead start Mark Buehrle in the finale against Tampa. Stroman, who tossed a complete game three-hitter his last time out, will now go Monday against Baltimore, a team he's yet to face this season.

Stroman's next start could be moved back from Sunday against the Rays to Tuesday against the Orioles, the Associated Press reports.
The Jays haven't made a final decision yet, but Mark Buehrle is available on regular rest to face the Rays on Sunday, and the veteran left-hander has fared better against Tampa Bay than the rookie has this season.

Stroman won Monday against the Cubs as he allowed three hits and recorded eight strikeouts in a complete game shutout.
Stroman has allowed two runs or less in each of his last three starts and lowered his ERA to 3.53 for the season with Monday's sparkling outing. He has 10 wins in his rookie season and looks like a promising young starter for Toronto's rotation.

Stroman allowed two runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out four over six innings of a 7-4 win against Tampa Bay on Wednesday night.
Stroman (9-5, 3.83 ERA) weathered a 30-minute power outage in the third inning and returned to complete six solid innings. He cruised through four, but was challenged when the Rays began to put runners on base in the fifth and sixth. He is a bright spot in the rotation despite the need to work on his delivery from the stretch. He'll get the Cubs at the Rogers Centre next time out.

Stroman struck out six and walked one while giving up two runs -- one earned -- on five hits over 7.2 innings to earn his eighth win of the season Wednesday.
After scuffling in three of his previous four starts, Stroman turned things around in a big way with Wednesday's performance. The rookie continues to show a steady ability to miss bats, and he'll face his next test Wednesday in Tampa Bay against the Rays.

Stroman struggled again Friday night, allowing six runs (five earned) on 10 hits, walking three and striking out six over five-plus innings of an 8-0 loss to the Rays.
After pitching very well for much of the season, this marks his second consecutive weak outing. He lacked command of the strike zone, needing 102 pitches (63 for strikes) to record 15 outs. After allowing the first three hitters to reach in the sixth (all of which scored) he was pulled. He's scheduled to face Boston in his next outing, but while he remains a high-upside starter, it's possible he could be wearing down a bit.

Stroman lasted only 0.2 innings Friday night, as he surrendered five earned runs on five hits while striking out one in an 11-5 loss to the White Sox.
Coming off of a strong nine-inning performance versus the Tigers last Saturday, Stroman struggled mightily Friday night and failed to escape the first frame. After posting a 2.18 ERA across 10 starts in June and July, the rookie right-hander has now been hit hard in 2-of-3 outings this month. With a career-high 122.2 innings between Toronto and Triple-A Buffalo already under his belt this year, Stroman could certainly be wearing down a bit.
