Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman will throw a 40-pitch simulated game next Monday as he continues his recovery from a torn ACL, according to Sportsnet.ca. Barring any setbacks, Stroman is expected to begin a rehab assignment following Monday's outing with an eye on a September return. His role upon return is uncertain, as the club could take things slowly and use him in a relief role. Stroman had originally been scheduled to make a rehab start on Friday, but general manager Alex Anthopoulos said Tuesday that Stroman will slot for a start at Triple-A Buffalo during the first week of September. “It’s easier to control the conditions in a sim game,” Anthopoulos said. “With sim games we can roll over an inning, etc. We can control everything. Medical staff just felt this is the right way to go. I’ve seen videos of his bullpen sessions, and he looks great."
