The Marlins have told teams that they're planning on keeping Josh Johnson, reports ESPN's Jayson Stark. Johnson drew interest from several clubs, but Miami's asking price was sky-high from the start and apparently isn't going to drop before Tuesday's non-waiver trade deadline. The 28-year-old right-hander is under contract with the Marlins through 2013. He has a 4.04 ERA and 109/41 K/BB ratio in 124 2/3 innings this season.

MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports the Rangers "don't appear too high" on the idea of trading for Josh Johnson. USA Today reported Friday that the sides were still "heavy in talks," but Texas no longer looks like a realistic landing spot. According to Sullivan, the Rangers have health concerns with Johnson and aren't willing to sacrifice their top prospects. The Blue Jays, Angels and Orioles, among other teams, have also reportedly expressed interest in Johnson.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that that the Marlins and Rangers are still "heavy in talks" regarding Josh Johnson. Furthermore, Nightengale writes that the Marlins are "leaving no doubt" that they intend to trade Johnson. The 28-year-old right-hander is under contract for $13.75 million next season, so the price is said to be extremely high. The Blue Jays, Angels and Orioles are among the other clubs reportedly in the mix.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com thinks the Marlins are willing to trade Josh Johnson, but the price would be "extremely high." "They want a ton,'' one general manager told Crasnick. Johnson is under contract for $13.75 million next season, which is also his salary for 2012. The Blue Jays, Angels, Rangers and Orioles are all reportedly after him, with Crasnick previously reporting that the righty would prefer to be near his home in Oklahoma or his wife's home in Orange County, California.

According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports, the Blue Jays are still pursuing Josh Johnson. The Blue Jays lost two out of three to the Athletics this week and currently sit at an even 49-49 on the year, but their place in the standings isn't necessarily going to impact their pursuit. Johnson is under contract for $13.75 million next season, so he has appeal to contenders and non-contenders alike. The Angels, Rangers and Orioles are among the others teams who have expressed interest. ESPN's Jerry Crasnick was told by a source that Johnson would prefer to be near his home in Oklahoma or his wife's home in Orange County, California.

According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, an official who spoke with the Marlins estimated that the odds of the club keeping Josh Johnson are at "95 percent." Johnson is reportedly drawing interest from the likes of the Angels, Rangers, Blue Jays and Orioles, but the Marlins are only willing to move him for a "monster return." Stark cites another executive, who was told by the Marlins that they'll only deal Johnson for a package centered around "a young, star-caliber player who isn't arbitration-eligible." The 28-year-old right-hander is making $13.75 million this season and will be paid the same salary next year.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that in addition to the Rangers, executives expect the Angels, Blue Jays and Orioles to "make a push" to acquire Josh Johnson from the Marlins. The same teams are all believed to be in the mix for Brewers' right-hander Zack Greinke. Johnson could fetch more in the way of prospects, as he is under contract for $13.75 million in 2013. The 28-year-old right-hander has a 4.14 ERA and a 105/35 K/BB ratio in 119 2/3 innings this season. The Marlins are reportedly 50-50 on whether they'll deal him, but they could intensify their efforts now that Cole Hamels is off the trade market.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Blue Jays are interested in Marlins right-hander Josh Johnson. The Blue Jays are also interested in Hanley Ramirez, but they are more motivated to acquire Johnson because of their need for starting pitching. The 28-year-old is quickly emerging as a popular trade target after the Marlins opened shop on Monday by dealing Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to the Tigers. However, Scott Miller of CBSSports.com reported on Monday night that the Marlins would prefer to him. Johnson 28, has a 4.14 ERA and a 105/35 K/BB ratio in 119 2/3 innings this season and is under contract for $13.75 million in 2013.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Marlins are fielding trade interest in right-handers Josh Johnson and Ricky Nolasco, third baseman Hanley Ramirez, first baseman Carlos Lee and left-handed reliever Randy Choate. The Marlins traded Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to the Tigers on Monday and should continue to sell off parts in the days ahead. However, Rosenthal notes that they intend to "make baseball trades, not simply dump salaries." Johnson would likely bring the most in return, but Scott Miller of CBSSports.com reported late Monday night that the Marlins would prefer to keep him. The 28-year-old right-hander is under contract for $13.75 million next year, after which he becomes a free agent.
