Josh Johnson limited the Cardinals to a hit in 2 1/3 innings in the Marlins' 3-1 victory Saturday. Johnson didn't make it three innings, but it was another encouraging outing for him as he comes back from a shoulder injury. He struck out three before departing following his 52nd pitch.

Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said Tuesday that the club plans to monitor Josh Johnson's workload during the season. "He will dictate for us what to do," said Guillen. "What I want him to do is have confidence in us to make sure we know. So he can come to us and say, 'Listen, I need a day.' Can I miss a start? I don't want him to go out there and be a hero and then we don't use him for the next 20 days. I'd rather lose him for a day, two or three days, than lose him for 21 days. He's got to dictate." Johnson was limited to just nine starts last season due to right shoulder inflammation, but he is throwing without any issues in early Marlins' camp. He offers ace-potential if healthy.

Josh Johnson (shoulder) threw a free and easy bullpen session Wednesday in Marlins camp. It was Johnson's first mound session since arriving at the Marlins' complex in Jupiter, Florida. "My arm felt great," he told reporters. "It still won't feel the way I want it to until I throw some more 'pens. The strengthening keeps going up with the more I'm throwing." Johnson is trying to get over the shoulder problems that plagued him last year. He's an ace when healthy.

Josh Johnson (shoulder) is currently throwing off a mound three days a week. Johnson was limited to just nine starts last season to shoulder issues, but he's been throwing pain-free off a mound since mid-January and doesn't expect to have any restrictions entering spring training. "I feel great. No problems," said Johnson. "I don't feel anything in there." The Marlins are hoping their ace right-hander will be ready to toe the rubber on Opening Night against the Cardinals on April 4.

Josh Johnson threw his first bullpen session of the year on Friday and felt no discomfort, according to The Sports Xchange. Johnson showed up to the club's spring training complex in Jupiter Thursday and expects to be ready for workouts on February 22. The ace right-hander should be healthy enough to pitch at the start of spring training and is poised to enter the 2012 campaign with a clean bill of health. Obviously owners need to be aware of the risk inherent to drafting Johnson, but if he's your second fantasy starter, you've done pretty well. The right-hander made only nine starts in 2011 due to shoulder issues, but he has a sparkling 2.98 career ERA.

Josh Johnson (shoulder surgery) is scheduled to begin throwing off a mound early next week. Johnson has been limited to flat-ground work over the past few months, but he's now ready to take the next step. "I'm feeling really good," the right-hander told 790 AM in Miami. "I'll throw two (bullpen sessions) this next week and then three every week from there on in. Everything is going according to plan." He should be at 100 percent health by Opening Day.

Josh Johnson (shoulder) is aiming to begin throwing off a mound in two weeks. Johnson has already played catch on flat ground with ease, reporting no lingering issues with his troublesome right shoulder. He should enter spring training with a clean bill of health, and could be a steal in fantasy drafts this spring if he's at 100 percent by Opening Day. The 27-year-old has a 2.98 career ERA and an 8.3 career K/9.

Marlins president Larry Beinfest said Thursday that Josh Johnson (shoulder) should begin throwing off a mound later this month. Johnson has already begun a throwing program, but isn't expected to pitch from a mound until the second or third week of January. While the 27-year-old right-hander didn't make another start last season after May 16 due to a sore right shoulder, he expects to be 100 percent for spring training. Consider him a high-risk/high-reward option in fantasy leagues.

Josh Johnson (shoulder) began throwing five days ago. It's still early, but Johnson has not experienced any sort of abnormal pain or discomfort in his troublesome right shoulder thus far and should be ready to rock by the start of spring training next February. When healthy, he can be one of the most dominant starters in all of baseball.
