Josh Johnson was stellar against the Phillies on Monday, striking out eight in 5 1/3 scoreless innings.
It's an especially impressive feat given the way the wind was howling. Johnson has a 1.13 ERA and a 21/1 K/BB ratio in 16 innings this spring. He's a difficult guy to rely on, but it looks like he'll be one of the AL's best pitchers in the early going.

Josh Johnson allowed one run and two hits in three innings and struck out five Thursday versus the Yankees.
Johnson has been throwing more sinkers this spring, and it's working for him so far. He doesn't quite have the same stuff he did a few years back, so his Cy Young-type upside is probably gone. He could still be very, very good, though.

Josh Johnson retired all 11 batters he faced, striking out five of them, Friday against the Braves.
Johnson has been sharp this spring, allowing just one run and two hits in 7 1/3 innings. He's yet to walk a batter. The switch from the NL to the AL hurts Johnson's ERA and WHIP upside in mixed leagues, but he has the stuff to handle the move better than most National League pitchers would. Plus, he's due much better run support than usual as a member of the Blue Jays.

Josh Johnson worked two hitless innings, striking out two, against the Red Sox on Monday.
Johnson allowed one hit and hit a batter in his first appearance in a Jays uniform. He's indicated that he intends to focus more on his curve this spring after turning to it with greater frequency in the second half of last year.

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Blue Jays have not held any contract extension talks with Josh Johnson.
Johnson's agent, Matt Sosnick, told Olney that there "hasn't been any conversation" with the Jays and the expectation is that he'll open next season without a new contract. "We've told them we're open to anything," Sosnick said. "But it make senses for both of us to see how he pitches at the beginning of the year." Johnson, in the final season of a four-year contract, is set to make $13.75 million in 2013 before becoming a free agent. He could be one of the top pitchers available next offseason.

According to the Toronto Star, Josh Johnson is open to signing a contract extension with the Blue Jays beyond the 2013 season.
Johnson is in the final year of a four-year contract and will make $13.75 million in 2013 before becoming a free agent. While no deal between the sides is imminent, it's possible the Jays could look to extend him below market value. More likely, Johnson will play out the length of his contract and be reevaluated after the season.

Blue Jays acquired RHP Josh Johnson from the Marlins in a 12-player trade.
After being limited to just nine starts in 2011 due to right shoulder inflammation, Johnson posted a 3.81 ERA and 165/65 K/BB ratio over 191 1/3 innings this season. The Blue Jays' rotation could look pretty good if Johnson and Brandon Morrow remain healthy, Ricky Romero bounces back and Mark Buehrle can eat innings like usual. Johnson is set to earn $13.75 million in 2013 before hitting free agency.

According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, Josh Johnson is on his way to Toronto to undergo a physical.
It's expected that Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle will also undergo physical exams, so the 12-player blockbuster trade between the Blue Jays and Marlins might not be official for a couple of days. Assuming everything goes off without a hitch, the Jays will acquire Reyes, Buehrle, Johnson, John Buck, Emilio Bonifacio and cash considerations from the Marlins in exchange for Yunel Escobar, Adeiny Hechavarria, Henderson Alvarez, Anthony DeSclafani, Jake Marisnick, Justin Nicolino and Jeff Mathis.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Blue Jays are close to acquiring Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle from the Marlins.
General manager Alex Anthopolous was dead set on acquiring some pitching help this offseason, and he's added two big pieces to the rotation in one fell swoop. It's not clear at this point what the Blue Jays are giving up or if any money is changing hands. Johnson will make $13.75 million in 2013 before hitting free agency, while Buehrle is set to earn $48 million over the next three seasons.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Marlins are expected to shop Josh Johnson over the offseason.
The Marlins listened to offers for the right-hander at the trade deadline but never seemed to be serious about dealing him. That evidently could change now with more teams likely to be in on the bidding. Cafardo notes that the Red Sox had interest in Johnson at the deadline and likely will again this winter. He also lists the Orioles, Blue Jays, Royals, Twins, Rangers and Dodgers as potential players.
