Jake Peavy allowed three runs on five hits over three innings in Sunday's loss to the Padres. He struck out two and finished with 46 pitches. It was Peavy's first start of spring training. Addison Reed, Matt Lindstrom, and Nestor Molina combined for five innings of scoreless relief.

White Sox signed RHP Jake Peavy to a two-year, $29 million contract with an option for 2015. Peavy seemed poised to hit it big on the open market, but he is clearly comfortable in Chicago and it's not like this new contract will leave him unsatisfied monetarily. The 31-year-old right-ahnder posted a stellar 3.37 ERA and 194/49 K/BB ratio in 219 innings (32 starts) this season for the White Sox. He seems to be past the shoulder problems that plagued him in 2010 and 2011, and should hold considerable fantasy value in 2013.

Jake Peavy turned in a strong performance in a no-decision against the Indians on Tuesday, allowing three runs on three hits over eight-plus innings of work. Peavy piled up eight strikeouts in the game while issuing just one walk, and a solo homer by Shin-Soo Choo in the fourth inning was the only hit that he allowed through the first eight innings. Peavy entered the ninth inning with a 3-1 lead and at 105 pitches, then surrendered a single to Michael Brantley and a game-tying two-run bomb to Travis Hafner. The impending free agent right-hander will finish a terrific comeback season with an 11-12 record, 3.37 ERA and 194/49 K/BB ratio in 219 innings.

Jake Peavy said he will start Tuesday against the Indians even if the White Sox are eliminated on Monday night. The White Sox are expected to decline the $22 million option on Peavy's contract, so he wants a chance to go into free agency on a high note. The 31-year-old right-hander has a 3.37 ERA and 186/48 K/BB ratio over 211 innings this season. He's currently deciding whether to hire a new agent or represent himself this winter.

The Chicago-Sun Times reports Jake Peavy may act as his own agent this offseason. Peavy is in the final year of his contract, and will become a free agent for the first time this winter when his option is declined. His agent, Barry Axelrod, is no longer able to represent him because he's taking a position in the Diamondbacks' front office.

Jake Peavy delivered a solid effort in a no-decision against the Rays on Thursday, surrendering just two runs on four hits over 7 1/3 innings. He racked up six strikeouts while walking one in the game. Carlos Pena got the Rays on the board with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, and Luke Scott added a solo blast in the fifth, but that was the extent of the damage. Peavy will carry an 11-12 record and 3.37 ERA into his season finale against the Indians in Cleveland on Tuesday.

The White Sox have pushed Jake Peavy's next start back to Thursday against the Rays. He's just getting some extra rest. Francisco Liriano will start against the Indians this afternoon while Hector Santiago will make a spot start Wednesday. Peavy will be followed by Jose Quintana, Gavin Floyd and Chris Sale this weekend.

Jake Peavy's next scheduled start could be pushed back. It's presumably just for rest reasons. Peavy has already eclipsed the 200-inning plateau this season for the first time since 2007 and was knocked around his last time out. He's currently slated to go Wednesday against the Indians, but the White Sox could give Hector Santiago a spot start instead.

Jake Peavy allowed five runs on eight hits in five innings of Friday's loss to the Angels. Peavy struck out three and walked two in falling to 11-12. The non-quality start was his third in five outings, and leaves him with a 3.40 ERA and 180/47 K/BB ratio through 203 2/3 innings. Certainly not bad, but hardly worthy of the $22 million 2013 option the White Sox are said to be declining. The 200-inning season is the first since Peavy's Cy Young award wining campaign in 2007.
