Jake Peavy (back) could start Monday's makeup game against the Royals. Peavy was scratched from his scheduled start on Thursday after his back locked up on him during stretching on Wednesday. The White Sox were originally talking about starting him on Sunday, but Friday's postponement will give him another day to get ready.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura is hoping that Jake Peavy (back) will be ready to start on Sunday. Peavy was scratched from his scheduled outing Thursday after his back locked up on him during stretching on Wednesday. While Ventura is hoping the veteran right-hander will need just a few days of rest, it's no guarantee that he'll be ready to take the ball on Sunday.

Jake Peavy (back) has no timetable for when he'll make his next start. Peavy was scratched from his scheduled start on Thursday after he tweaked his back during stretching on Wednesday. He's still dealing with discomfort, but the White Sox are hoping the symptoms will dissipate over the next few days. If he can't start next Wednesday against the Mets, Hector Santiago would likely fill in.

Jake Peavy was scratched from his scheduled Thursday start against the Rangers due to back spasms. Hector Santiago will take the mound instead against the dangerous Texas lineup. Peavy, who has registered a spectacular 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 39/6 K/BB ratio over 32 innings this season, is considered day-to-day.

Jake Peavy gave up three runs in 6 2/3 innings in a 5-4 win over the Rays on Friday night. Peavy was down 3-0 after four innings after a pair of solo homers and an RBI single, but he managed to hang in there long enough for his offense to battle back. The veteran right-hander gave up six hits and one walk in the victory and notched six strikeouts. Aside from his ugly start against the Nationals on April 9, Peavy has been excellent. He'll bring a 3.38 ERA into a start against the Rangers next week in Texas.

Jake Peavy limited the Twins to one run over seven innings Saturday but took a no-decision. Peavy deserved his third victory but got very little help from his offense. He scattered six hits and four walks while racking up nine strikeouts. The 31-year-old right-hander now owns a 3.20 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 33/5 K/BB ratio through 25 1/3 innings this season.

Friday's game between the Twins and White Sox has been postponed due to a forecast of cold and windy conditions in Chicago. No makeup date has been announced. Scheduled starters Vance Worley and Jake Peavy presumably will be pushed back to start Saturday.

Jake Peavy spun seven innings of one-run ball while striking out 11 in Sunday's 3-1 victory over the Indians. Michael Bourn deposited Peavy's first pitch of the game into the right-field seats, but the veteran right-hander gave up just four singles after that and didn't walk a batter. Peavy had one bad inning last week against the Nationals, but he's otherwise been quite impressive this season. He'll carry a 3.93 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 24/1 K/BB ratio over 18 1/3 frames into his next start versus the Twins.

Jake Peavy struck out seven but allowed six runs over 5 1/3 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Nationals. A four-run sixth did Peavy in, and he later admitted that the heat got to him a bit. He served up home runs to three of the last nine batters he faced. The veteran righty pitched well in his first start this season and should bounce back this weekend in Cleveland.

Jake Peavy held the Royals to two runs -- one earned -- in six innings Wednesday in the White Sox's 5-2 victory. Peavy got no help from his defense today, but he didn't need it. He allowed just four hits, walked none and struck out six. Peavy ended the game with a bruise on his arm, the result of a crashing dive into first base while trying to handle Paul Konerko's relay toss (it was actually a foul ball that led to the play, not that Peavy knew it), but it didn't seem to bother him at all.
