DeGrom allowed one run on two hits while throwing three innings in his first start of the spring Saturday.
DeGrom, the 2014 National League Rookie of the Year, was allowed to go three innings since he only had thrown 19 pitches the first two frames. He ended up throwing 27 pitches, 22 for strikes and would have escaped his outing unscathed had John Mayberry Jr. not dropped the throw on a possible 4-6-3 double-play that would have ended the third inning.

Manager Terry Collins confirmed Tuesday that DeGrom will be shut down for the rest of the season, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
The NL Rookie of the Year candidate has thrown 178.2 innings between the minors and majors this season, so the non-contending Mets will shut him down as a preventative measure. He'll finish the season 9-6 with a 2.63 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 144 strikeouts in 140.1 MLB innings.

It was another strong performance as deGrom allowed one run (unearned) on four hits, walking two and striking out five over seven innings of a 4-1 win against the Phillies on Friday night.
He tossed 103 pitches (70 for strikes) and stifled the Philadelphia offense in yet another sterling performance. deGrom (7-6, 2.94 ERA) has been a bright spot in a lackluster Mets' season and he will try to build on that when he faces the Marlins in South Florida next time out.

DeGrom (shoulder) will be activated from the DL to start Saturday's game in Los Angeles, the Wall Street Journal's Jared Diamond reports.
He threw all his pitches in Tuesday's session and will be ready to rejoin the rotation Saturday after missing several starts with a shoulder ailment. DeGrom has been dropped in an alarming amount of leagues, and his 2.87 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 94 strikeouts in 100.1 innings with the Mets this season make him an ideal pickup for the stretch run.
