Jacob deGrom struck out a career-high 11 batters and allowed three runs over 6 1/3 innings Saturday in a win over the Phillies. The rookie right-hander held the Phillies scoreless over the first six innings, but he was clearly out of gas in the seventh before giving up a three-run homer to Ryan Howard. He was pulled one batter later and Jeurys Familia eventually cost him a chance at the victory. Overall, deGrom has been pretty impressive since coming up from the minors, posting a 2.42 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 26 innings over four starts. He'll get the Cubs next week.

Jacob deGrom was impressive in his major league debut but took the loss despite holding the Yankees to one run over seven innings on Thursday. deGrom was rarely under pressure, holding the Yankees to four hits and two walks while striking out six. Alfonso Soriano broke a scoreless tie in the seventh with an RBI double and it proved to be all the offense necessary. deGrom, filling in for the injured Dillon Gee, will get the ball against the Dodgers at home next.

Mets prospect RHP Jake deGrom allowed one earned run on six hits with six strikeouts and one walk in 5 1/3 innings Thursday for Triple-A Las Vegas. deGrom, 25, has been the best starter this season in a Las Vegas rotation that also features highly touted prospects Noah Syndergaard and Rafael Montero. The right-hander has posted a 1.89 ERA and 28/10 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 33 1/3 innings (six starts) so far, while holding opposing batters to a .665 OPS in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. deGrom is already on the Mets' 40-man roster, so he could conceivably get the call this season before his current rotation mates.
