Chris Narveson left Monday's start against the Pirates in the sixth inning with an apparent blister on his left middle finger.
Narveson just came off the disabled list Monday due to a laceration on his left thumb. The southpaw allowed five hits and struck out three over 5 1/3 shutout innings before exiting.

The Brewers have officially named Chris Narveson (thumb) their starter for the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Pirates.
Narveson threw a successful bullpen session Saturday, as the cut on his thumb apparently is no longer an issue. Zack Greinke will get the ball in Game 2 of the doubleheader.

Following a successful bullpen session Saturday, Chris Narveson (thumb) is likely to be activated from the disabled list Monday to start one of the games of the doubleheader against the Pirates.
He'll have missed only the minimum amount of time on the DL after he sliced his thumb open with a pair of scissors while trying to repair his glove. With Narveson rejoining the rotation, Marco Estrada is headed back to a long relief role.

Chris Narveson (thumb) may not be ready to return to the Brewers rotation when first eligible on Monday.
"It's still up in the air," manager Ron Roenicke said. "I think he's going to play catch again (Thursday), try to throw a bullpen Saturday. And that's got to go really well Saturday. If it doesn't go really well, then we won't try to pitch him Monday." The Brewers have a double-header with the Pirates on Monday, making it an optimal return date for their 29-year-old lefty, but for the time being it doesn't sound like he'll be able to give it a go. Don't count on having him in your weekly league next week.

Chris Narveson (thumb) could return on August 22 to start the second game of the doubleheader against the Pirates.
After having eight stitches removed Monday, Narveson was able to throw off a mound Tuesday for the first time since slicing up his left thumb. Though the session went fine, he performed it with a bandage on his thumb, something he won't be allowed to wear when he starts. "That's the optimal," Narveson said of returning next Monday. "It's just a matter of getting that dead skin to heal up."

Chris Narveson was able to play light catch prior to Saturday's game with a bandage over his lacerated thumb.
Narveson is eligible to return from the DL on August 22, but Brewers manager Ron Roenicke admits that "everything would have to go perfect for that to happen." We're more likely to see the left-hander back later in the month. "It's hard to know when you start putting pressure on it, how much it's going to bother him," Roenicke said.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke wasn't sure if Chris Narveson (thumb) would be able to return from the disabled list on August 22 when he's first eligible.
Narveson needed eight stitches to close a wound he received when he tried to repair his glove with a pair of scissors. "That's hard to say," Roenicke said. "It's possible that the doctor will say he can throw even with the stitches. But if a pitcher isn't able to throw at all for that whole time - the 15-day minimum for the DL - it can be a problem." It seems likely that his absence will be extended to the end of the month. Marco Estrada will assume Narveson's spot in the rotation.

Brewers placed LHP Chris Narveson on the 15-day disabled list with a left thumb laceration.
Narveson sliced his thumb open while trying to repair his glove. He needed eight stitches to close the wound, but Brewers manager Ron Roenicke anticipates the left-handed needing only the minimum amount of time on the DL. Narveson will have to wait 7-10 days before he can throw after the stitches are removed. "I still think there's going to be some healing there and some soreness, so we'll see how that feels once he's able to go out and throw a ball," Roenicke said.

Chris Narveson will at least miss his next start after slicing his thumb while trying to repair his glove.
It isn't quite carrying deer meet up a flight of stairs (Clint Barmes), but this still deserves consideration among some of the more bizarre injuries we've seen. The cut was severe enough to require eight stitches and he may ultimately need to be placed on the disabled list. Marco Estrada is one candidate to start in his place Friday night against the Pirates.

Chris Narveson allowed three runs on four hits and three walks in 6 2/3 innings of work on Sunday, taking a no-decision in Milwaukee's 5-4 win over the Astros.
He struck out four and walked three. Narveson will finish July with a 4.33 ERA, though it could have been much lower if he hadn't gotten bombed for seven runs by the Twins on July 2. He'll get the Astros again next weekend.
