Chris Narveson was able to spin 3 2/3 shutout innings against the Padres Thursday despite allowing three walks and two hits.
He struck out a pair. Narveson wasn't efficient but in the end got the job done and now boasts a 0.96 ERA through his first three outings this spring. He's slated to again serve as the No. 5 starter in Milwaukee this season.

Chris Narveson allowed one earned run in 3 2/3 innings Saturday afternoon against the Cubs.
Narveson yielded just two hits and racked up three strikeouts without issuing a walk. He threw two scoreless innings in his spring debut earlier this week, and should be able to go close to five frames next time out.

Chris Narveson didn't allow a hit over two scoreless frames in his spring debut Monday against the Giants.
Narverson didn't notch a strikeout or walk a batter. The 30-year-old southpaw is projected to serve as the Brewers' fifth starter this year after posting a 4.45 ERA and 126/65 K/BB ratio over 161 2/3 innings last season. He should have value again in NL-only fantasy leagues.

Chris Narveson underwent surgery on his left hip Tuesday.
The surgery shouldn't impact his availability for the start of spring training. Narveson, who turns 30 in December, went 11-8 with a 4.45 ERA and 126/65 K/BB ratio over 161 2/3 innings this season. He'll likely be a member of the Brewers' starting rotation again in 2012.

Chris Narveson moved to 11-8 Sunday, holding the Marlins to four runs on five hits and five walks over 6 1/3 innings in a 9-5 win.
He struck out five and allowed a pair of solo homers. Narveson has often been hit-or-miss this season, but with a 4.45 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 30 games -- 28 starts -- he's been pretty solid as far as No. 5 starters go. He'll be used as a long man in the playoffs and will enter his first year of arbitration over the winter.

Chris Narveson allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks in just four innings on Monday, falling to 10-8 in Milwaukee's loss to the Cubs.
Narveson tallied just one strikeout in his third shortest start of the season. The owner of a 4.40 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 121/60 K/BB through 155 1/3 innings, Narveson has served the Brewers well as a fifth starter this year, but should be limited to mop-up duty during the postseason.

Chris Narveson was knocked around by the Phillies Thursday, surrendering six runs on seven hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings.
Narveson allowed just one hit through the first five innings and then struck out the first two batters of the sixth, but then the wheels suddenly fell off, as he allowed seven straight basrunners and six runs before getting the hook. The lefty had pitched well since coming off the DL, allowing just two runs over his two starts. He'll carry a 4.46 ERA and 1.39 WHIP into next week's start against the Reds.

Chris Narveson will not make his next start until September 3.
The Brewers will only need four starters over the next week and a half because of two scheduled off-days. Narveson will pitch as the lone left-hander out of the bullpen for now.

Chris Narveson (finger) doesn't expect to miss a start.
Narveson left the first game of Monday's doubleheader after 5 1/3 innings because the nail on his left middle finger was pulled back. While it sounds pretty painful, the southpaw should be good to go this weekend against the Cubs.

Updating a previous item, Chris Narveson was pulled from Monday's start with an "issue to the nail on his left middle finger."
We're going to assume he cracked a fingernail. It's too bad, as Narveson was solid upon his return from the DL, striking out three over 5 1/3 scoreless innings. We'll likely learn more about his status following the game.
