Coghlan is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.
Coghlan has yet to start against a left-hander this season, and he will be held out again Tuesday with southpaw Jeff Locke on the mound for the Pirates. Junior Lake will get the start in left field in Coghlan's place.

Coghlan is out of the lineup Thursday, the Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales reports.
As has been the case recently, Chris Denorfia will play left field with a lefty, John Locke, on the mound for the Pirates. The Cubs face righty Mike Leake in Cincinnati on Friday so Coghlan will likely be back in the lineup to start the weekend series.

Coghlan is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Pirates.
Chris Denorfia will spell Coghlan in left field with a left-hander in Francisco Liriano toeing the rubber for Pittsburgh. Coghlan is batting .216 so far this season, though two of his eight hits have left the yard.

Coghlan played third base Monday and second base Tuesday.
Granted, it was only three innings at the hot corner Monday night and only inning at second Tuesday, but that could be enough to make him eligible at a couple of extra positions in some leagues. Tommy La Stella (side) went on the DL on Tuesday, and Mike Olt is a bit banged up as well, so the Cubs were a bit desperate for infielders. Kris Bryant could be up by this weekend, so don't expect to see too much more of Coghlan in the infield.

Coghlan is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies, ESPN Chicago reports.
Coghlan doesn't figure to get many starts against left-handed pitching, and he'll unsurprisingly be on the bench for Chicago's first game against a southpaw. Matt Szczur is starting in left field and batting sixth.

Coghlan (neck) is in the lineup Sunday night against the Cardinals.
Coghlan was scratched from last Wednesday's spring contest due to a sore neck, but said on Friday that he would be ready for Opening Day. The announcement of Sunday's lineup confirms that assertion and suggests that this ailment will not have long-term consequences. Coghlan will draw the start in left field and bat fifth in the order against opposing starter Adam Wainwright.

Coghlan (neck) said Friday that he will be fine for Opening Day, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Coghlan was scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to neck stiffness, but it was deemed a minor issue and the 29-year-old doesn't seem to have any doubt about his availability for the start of the year. Coghlan is 11-for-38 (.289 average) with two homers and nine walks this spring and figures to start in left field at least against right-handed pitching early on.

Coghlan was scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to a stiff neck.
Coghlan's neck issue is considered minor, however, and he's believed to be day-to-day. With Javier Baez gone, Arismendy Alcantara was shifted back to second base, making Coghlan the presumptive favorite to start in left field. While the issue shouldn't be much cause for concern, his spot in left field isn't necessarily guaranteed, with Chris Denorfia also in the mix.

Coghan (leg) was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run in a spring over the Mariners on Saturday.
Coghlan missed a game after fouling a ball of his leg, but the injury was clearly not serious. He's having a good spring, hitting .318/.452/.545 with five RBI in 22 at-bats. He's expected to share left field with Chris Denorfia this year.

The injury doesn't appear to be serious. Coghlan is still expected to share left field with Chris Denorfia in 2015.
