Gonzalez (left knee tendinitis) is headed for the 15-day DL, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
The Rockies had been content to let Gonzalez play through the issue until his tendinitis flared up again Friday night. He was reportedly available Saturday though he did not end up making an appearance, and manager Walt Weiss said the team is not considering shutting Gonzalez down for the season at this point. However, it could still be an option for the last-place Rockies, should the problems linger into September.

The Rockies are not considering shutting Gonzalez down at this point, the Denver Post reports. "I don't think we are at that point of shutting him down," manager Walt Weiss said. "We will have to keep monitoring him. If you feel like you are putting him at risk by putting him out there, that is the determining factor."
Gonzalez's knee tendinitis flared up once again Friday night, prompting his removal from the game in the seventh inning. Although he did not end up appearing in Saturday's game, he was reportedly available, and it does not sound like he's in imminent danger of landing on the DL. The issue will, however, likely require additional maintenance, and if Gonzalez does take a turn for the worse in the weeks ahead, the team could always step in and end his season.

Gonzalez is dealing with tendinitis in his left knee but is still available off the bench Saturday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Gonzalez had to be taken out of Friday's game early because of the tendinitis, but it's not hampering him enough to completely rule him out for Saturday. His status for Sunday's lineup is likely 50/50 with this news.

Gonzalez is out of the lineup Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
Manager Walt Weiss remains intent on getting Gonzalez frequent rest, which is understandable given the 28-year-old's ongoing battle with knee and ankle issues. Charlie Blackmon will move over to right field in Gonzalez's absence, with Drew Stubbs stepping in at center.

Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with his 11th home run of the season Wednesday in a 13-4 win over the Cubs.
Gonzalez has been battling knee, ankle and finger ailments all year and it shows in his .244/.296/.441 line in 254 at-bats. If the switch-hitter can string a few more good showings together, owners can begin to feel comfortable inserting him back in the lineup.

Gonzalez (knee, ankle) is back in the Rockies' lineup Wednesday against the Cubs, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
A sprained ankle, suffered last Friday, threatened to push Gonzalez to the DL, but he was able to come off the bench Tuesday and will step back into the lineup Wednesday against right-hander Jake Arrieta. Since his mid-June return from a finger injury, Gonzalez has gone 9-for-53 (.169 average), and he's batting just .236/.308/.448 against right-handed pitching this season.

Gonzalez (knee, ankle) will be available off the bench Tuesday and stands a "good chance" of returning to the lineup Wednesday, according to Nick Groke of the Denver Post.
Evidently, the Rockies have ruled out a DL stint for Gonzalez, as he will be available as a pinch-hitter Tuesday. Gonzalez has been battling knee and ankle soreness for well over a week now, but he reported feeling better Tuesday and it sounds like he will supplant Brandon Barnes in right field Wednesday to take on Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta.

Gonzalez (ankle) remains out of the Rockies' lineup Tuesday against the Cubs.
The ankle injury will cost Gonzalez a third straight start, but he is listed on the lineup card as a reserve, suggesting the Rockies plan on keeping him active. Manager Walt Weiss had previously indicated that the team would make a decision on Gonzalez's DL status Tuesday. Brandon Barnes will make another start in Gonzalez's place Monday, but it sounds like Gonzalez may be available in some capacity before the end of the Cubs series.
