Carlos Gonzalez (finger) could begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Colorado Springs as soon as Monday. CarGo felt good while taking batting practice Saturday and will take BP again Sunday. If it goes well, he could be cleared for game action. "I'm very encouraged. And Carlos is too," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. "It's very different from before. He doesn't have any pain. And that's making him feel a whole lot better about things." Gonzalez is expected to need 2-3 rehab games, so it's likely he'll be activated later this week.

Carlos Gonzalez (finger) said Thursday that he's hoping to be activated prior to the All-Star break. If he doesn't return before the end of the first half, he'll be back for the start of the second half. CarGo took batting practice on Thursday for the first time since landing on the disabled list and said his surgically-repaired finger feels good. The slugger was hitting .255/.307/.449 over 52 games before the injury but should improve upon that line with his finger no longer an issue.

Carlos Gonzalez (finger) will take batting practice when the Rockies return from a road trip Thursday. He'll then take another round of batting practice off fellow rehabber Eddie Butler (shoulder) on Saturday. The Rockies haven't set a timetable for Gonzalez's return, but he should be back quickly now that he's swinging a bat with no pain.

Carlos Gonzalez (finger) hit off a tee on Monday. "Now that he can swing a bat, his rehab will go rather quickly," Rockies trainer Keith Dugger said. CarGo is three weeks removed from surgery to remove a benign tumor from his left index finger. It's sounding like he has a shot to rejoin the Rockies prior to the All-Star break.

Carlos Gonzalez (finger) has begun taking dry swings. CarGo had surgery nearly three weeks ago to remove a benign tumor from his left index finger and he's finally starting to incorporate baseball activities again. There's no timetable for the slugger's return, but around the All-Star break seems about right if he can avoid setbacks.

Rockies trainer Keith Dugger guessed Wednesday that Carlos Gonzalez (finger) will be out five weeks. Dugger told reporters that Gonzalez had a "fatty mass with tentacles" removed from his left index finger on Tuesday. It was a benign tumor that had been causing CarGo discomfort for much of the season. He's likely to resume swinging a bat at the end of June and should be back on the Rockies' active roster around the All-Star break.

Rockies head athletic trainer Keith Dugger expects Carlos Gonzalez (finger) to be able to resume swinging a bat in two weeks. CarGo had what is suspected to be a benign tumor removed from his left index finger Tuesday. Assuming he has no complications, it doesn't sound like he'll be sidelined terribly long. "Typically it'll take a couple weeks just for the tissue to heal," Dugger said. "And then he can get back his strength and start swinging."

Carlos Gonzalez underwent surgery Tuesday afternoon in Cleveland for his sore left index finger. Rockies manager Walt Weiss would only say that doctors removed a "foreign body" from CarGo's index finger and did not make a guess about a timetable for his return. Gonzalez had been battling discomfort in that finger for over a month. Corey Dickerson will be the Rockies' regular left fielder in his absence and is a must-own in standard fantasy leagues.

Carlos Gonzalez will undergo exploratory surgery on his left index finger Tuesday. More will be known about a potential timetable when it's discovered what exactly needs to be fixed, but obviously this is a big blow for the Rockies no matter what. CarGo has been dealing with swelling in the finger since early May before finally being placed on the disabled list last Wednesday. Corey Dickerson will continue to serve as the left field while Gonzalez is on the shelf.

Rockies placed OF Carlos Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list with left index finger inflammation. CarGo tried to play through the inflammation unsuccessfully and will now miss at least two weeks of action. This opens up playing time for Corey Dickerson, who has performed well for the Rockies in limited action and is worth grabbing in standard mixed fantasy leagues.
