The Rockies are not considering shutting Gonzalez down at this point, the Denver Post reports. "I don't think we are at that point of shutting him down," manager Walt Weiss said. "We will have to keep monitoring him. If you feel like you are putting him at risk by putting him out there, that is the determining factor."
Gonzalez's knee tendinitis flared up once again Friday night, prompting his removal from the game in the seventh inning. Although he did not end up appearing in Saturday's game, he was reportedly available, and it does not sound like he's in imminent danger of landing on the DL. The issue will, however, likely require additional maintenance, and if Gonzalez does take a turn for the worse in the weeks ahead, the team could always step in and end his season.
