Carrasco's bullpen session went well Saturday and he is scheduled to be activated to start Tuesday's game against the White Sox, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Paul Hoynes reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Carrasco appears ready to return to the Indians' rotation after missing a couple weeks with a shoulder issue. Make sure he is in season-long lineups heading into next week.

Carrasco (shoulder) could start Tuesday against the White Sox, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Paul Hoynes reports.
EDGE Analysis
He will throw a bullpen session Saturday and with Corey Kluber (hamstring) on the mend, and while nothing is official yet, everything sets up nicely for Carrasco to jump in as the fifth member of the rotation.

Carrasco (shoulder) is on tap to throw a bullpen session Friday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The session should provide the Indians with a decent barometer of where Carrasco is on the health front after the shoulder issue forced him to the DL last week. If all goes well during the session, Carrasco could rejoin the Indians' rotation in the minimum 15 days and take the hill at some point during the Tribe's three-game series with the White Sox that opens Monday night.

Carrasco (shoulder) is not currently scheduled to return to the Indians' rotation this week.
EDGE Analysis
There was speculation that, given how well his shoulder apparently feels, Carrasco could return from the DL when first eligible to pitch Sunday against the Tigers. However, it seems Josh Tomlin will start Saturday with Danny Salazar getting the ball Sunday. If Carrasco is indeed as healthy as the Indians suggest, it would be a bit surprising if he did not return to the rotation at some point next week. The Indians will then have to decide whether to remove someone from the rotation or to go to a six-man rotation.

Carrasco (shuolder) is scheduled to play catch Sunday, MLB.com reports. "He's doing good," manager Terry Francona said. "[Playing catch] is not going to be an issue. I'd be shocked if he doesn't feel great."
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco remains on target to return when eligible on September 6 barring any setbacks.

Carrasco was not at his best Monday, taking the loss after allowing five runs in four innings. After tossing 8.2 no-hit innings in his last start, Carrasco showed fatigue from throwing 124 pitches, allowing 10 hits in this start. The righty will look to get back on track when he takes the mound against the Athletics this weekend.

Carrasco (10-6) struck out 13 and allowed only one run on one hit and two walks in 8.2 innings against the Rays on Wednesday. Carrasco came within one strike of throwing the Cleveland Indians' first no-hitter since 1981, but Joey Butler lined an 0-2 pitch for an RBI single that ended Carrasco's night. The 28-year-old threw a career-high 124 pitches and retired the first 19 batters before losing his perfect game when he walked Butler in the seventh. He'll take the mound again in his next scheduled start Monday against the Astros.

Carrasco (9-6) held the Tigers to two runs on five hits over eight innings Wednesday, striking out seven and walking one in an 8-2 victory. After giving up 24 hits in 16.2 innings over his last three starts, Carrasco saw his luck normalize in this one. He continues to display sharp control -- he's walked more than two batters in a start just once all year -- and he keeps piling up the strikeouts while doing a decent-enough job keeping the ball in the yard, so Carrasco's due to see some in his still-inflated 4.16 ERA. He'll draw the unimpressive Rays offense in his next start.

Carrasco allowed three runs on 10 hits, he did not walk a hitter, and struck out five over 6.2 innings of a 4-1 loss to Tampa Bay on Friday night. Carrasco (8-6, 4.35 ERA) has been a bit of an enigma this season. He has the eight wins, and he maintains a very good 90:18 K:BB ratio, however he is often too hittable, and those hits frequently come at very inopportune times, resulting in the disappointing ERA. He showed the potential he has late last season, and fantasy owners will hope to see that kind of performance again soon.

Carrasco picked up his eighth win of the season Saturday, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk in 5.2 innings, striking out eight. If you look past Carrasco's 4.38 ERA, he's been every inch the Cy Young contender the preseason hype suggested he would be, and his 85:18 K:BB ratio in 74 innings is among the best in the league. He'll next take the mound on Thursday, at home against the Cubs.
