Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Giants are likely to non-tender Brian Wilson.
Not a big surprise, as the Giants are reluctant to give Wilson a $6.8 million guarantee in arbitration coming off Tommy John surgery. While it makes sense as a baseball decision, Schulman hears that the two sides "aren't seeing eye to eye" at the moment. The Giants want to re-sign Wilson to a one-year deal for a significantly lower guarantee once he reaches free agency, but the bearded closer wants to be compensated for what he has done for the organization.

Giants placed RHP Brian Wilson on the 60-day disabled list.
Wilson, who, of course, is recovering from Tommy John surgery, was activated from the DL earlier this month, but the Giants put him back on it in order to clear space on the 40-man roster. The Giants are not expected to tender him a contract but will look to re-sign him at a lesser rate.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com writes that "it would be a shock" if the Giants offered Brian Wilson arbitration.
Wilson made $8.5 million this season, and the biggest pay cut he could receive through arbitration is 20 percent, meaning he would get a minimum of $6.8 million. It would be a tad risky to guarantee him that much while he's making his way back from a second Tommy John surgery, so Rosenthal expects the Giants to work out an incentive-laden, pre-arbitration deal.

Giants activated RHP Brian Wilson from the 60-day disabled list.
Wilson, of course, missed all of the 2012 campaign while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He's hoping to be ready for Opening Day next season.

Brian Wilson played catch Friday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery back in mid-April.
Wilson threw for about 10 minutes. "It felt great," he said afterwards. "Activate me." Assuming he can avoid setbacks, the right-hander should be ready to roll for the start of next season. Wilson is arbitration-eligible for the final time this winter.

Brian Wilson (elbow) is set to throw Friday for the first time since Tommy John surgery.
Wilson required season-ending Tommy John surgery in mid-April. However, the bearded closer hopes to have a regular spring training and be ready in time for the start of the 2013 season.

Brian Wilson (elbow) will resume throwing on October 6.
Wilson's recovery from Tommy John surgery is going well, though obviously he hasn't been tested too much yet. "He looked good, healthy," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said of the righty-hander. "Now, the beard didn't look too healthy." Wilson is expected to be ready for the start of next season.

Brian Wilson will undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow Thursday.
There was a slight bit of doubt that he would need it after an exam revealed a "moderate" sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament but not a full tear. But, this has been considered the most likely route, and Dr. James Andrews will cut Wilson open Thursday. It will be the second Tommy John procedure for the closer, and he could be sidelined into the 2013 campaign. Santiago Casilla will handle the closer role for the Giants for the time being.

Dr. Lewis Yocum diagnosed Brian Wilson with a "moderate" sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
Wilson doesn't have a full ligament tear, and he'll get a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews Wednesday before a final decision is made regarding surgery. Some pitchers choose to rehab Wilson's level of injury, but he certainly sounded on Sunday like a guy that was ready to have Tommy John surgery, and that's still the likely route. We'll know for sure later this week.

Giants placed RHP Brian Wilson on the 15-Day disabled list, retroactive to April 13, with a right elbow sprain.
Wilson will undergo season-ending surgery to repair structural damage in his right elbow. He's seeking a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews, but the bearded closer said he anticipates having another Tommy John surgery and missing the rest of the year. Sunday's roster move was procedural and Wilson will be shifted to the 60-day disabled list soon unless Dr. Andrews delivers miraculous news.
