According to CBS Sports' Scott Miller, free agent Brian Wilson is "80 to 85 percent" healthy.
Wilson underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery last April and is still in rehab mode. He has instructed his agents to not start negotiations with teams until he feels like he can pitch in a game. Which means the right-hander will probably remain unsigned on Opening Day.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe believes that Brian Wilson will be the Tigers' fallback option when he's ready to return after surgery.
Wilson is holding out for a guaranteed contract, but doesn't appear close to catching on anywhere. The last we heard, Wilson instructed his agent not to talk terms or money with teams until he's fully healthy, so it's something to file away if the Tigers' bullpen struggles early in the season.

Brian Wilson's agent, Dan Lozano, said Friday that he hasn't talked about contract terms with the Giants or any other team.
Lozano made the comment in response to Giants general manager Brian Sabean, who said that Wilson's camp was holding out for a guaranteed contract for more money and weren't receptive to an incentive-laden deal. "(Wilson) has instructed us not to talk terms or money until he's 100 percent," said Lozano. "We haven't talked terms or money with the Giants or any other team. So I'm a little baffled by Brian Sabean's comment that we're out there looking for more money." Sabean stood by his statement while Giants vice president Bobby Evans downplayed it as a matter of semantics. Lozano said Friday that four or five clubs have shown interest in making an offer, but Wilson isn't ready to make a decision yet.

Giants general manager Brian Sabean on Friday downplayed the possibility of re-signing Brian Wilson.
"Their stance and our stance are longstanding," Sabean said. "Their camp holds out hope they can get... more guaranteed money." The Giants, obviously, would prefer an incentive-laden deal as the bearded closer comes back from his second Tommy John surgery. Wilson has drawn a bit of interest over the winter, but he doesn't appear close to catching on anywhere.

Giants manager Brian Wilson told fans Wednesday that the club hasn't ruled out re-signing Brian Wilson.
"I can't say the door's closed on Brian Wilson," said Bochy. "I don't think that's completely shut." The bearded right-hander drew some interest last month from the Mets, but they just inked Brandon Lyon to a one-year contract and are probably done signing players. Wilson is on his way back from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery but expects to be ready on Opening Day. He'd represent a nice low-risk, high-reward type of acquisition for any team seeking bullpen depth.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Sunday that he plans to see Brian Wilson (elbow) throw again soon.
"May go back and see him in the next several days, and he's still in our mix," Alderson said of the bearded reliever. There have been reports saying the Mets weren't impressed the first time they saw Wilson throw and would only be willing to offer him a minor league deal. Wilson, of course, is coming back from Tommy John surgery but expects to be ready for Opening Day.

Giants GM Brian Sabean all but confirmed that free agent Brian Wilson (elbow) won't be returning this season.
"I'm going to be brutally honest as I always am, I don't [think Wilson will return]," Sabean said. "In this case, where you are getting a second Tommy John.it's the type of rehab where he's still not further up along to judge exactly where he may be able to come back in major league fashion, let alone as a closer." Wilson is tentatively expected to be ready for Opening Day, but failed to impress the Mets in a workout last weekend, and has yet to receive any formal offers. While the Giants don't expect to bringing him back, Sabean did leave open the possibility that Wilson could return on an incentive-laden, one-year contract.

Newsday's Marc Carig hears that the Mets haven't ruled out signing Brian Wilson to a major league deal.
Mike Puma of the New York Post reported earlier Wednesday that the Mets weren't impressed during Wilson's private throwing session and were only willing to offer him a minor league deal. Evidently, though, they could still give Wilson a shot on what would likely be an incentive-laden, one-year contract.

According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, Brian Wilson (elbow) didn't impress the Mets during his workout Saturday.
"Physically, he's not ready," a source told Puma. "He's got a ways to go." The Mets didn't think he was worthy of a major league deal while Wilson wasn't interested in a minor league contract. The Mets could hold another audition if he is still on the market during spring training, but they are expected to pursue other bullpen options for now.

Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Giants are willing to offer Brian Wilson (elbow) a major league contract.
The Mets have "strong interest" in Wilson and even watched him in a private workout on Saturday, but one source speculated to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York on Sunday that the club would prefer to sign him to a minor league contract. It's highly unlikely he'll be willing to agree to that, so the money is undoubtedly a factor, but he may also prefer to go somewhere which presents the best opportunity to close. That may not be San Francisco.
