General manager Matthew Silverman said Saturday that he anticipates Colome (visa issues) will join the Rays' spring training "hopefully next week," Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
While he's been waiting to secure the necessary paperwork, Colome has begun throwing at the Rays' facility in his native Dominican Republic. Assuming he's able to arrive in the United States by next week, Colome shouldn't find himself too far behind the rest of the Rays' collection of starters that are battling for the No. 5 rotation spot.

Colome did not record a decision Monday against the Yankees as he allowed six hits and one walk to go along with four strikeouts in 6.2 scoreless innings.
The Rays think highly of Colome and called him up to join their rotation down the stretch. Although he didn't see much action in the major leagues this season, he could work his way into the starting rotation discussion next season with a strong finish to 2014.

Colome will be called up from Triple-A Durham to start Monday's game versus the Yankees, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Now that Triple-A Durham's season has come to an end, Colome will head up to the big leagues to finish the 2014 campaign with the Rays. The 25-year-old righty will be on the bump Monday night in place of another rookie hurler, as Jake Odorizzi has already logged 159 innings this season and is likely to be limited the rest of the way. Colome is one of the Rays' top young arms and has posted a solid 2.45 ERA while allowing just 19 hits across 25.2 innings at the major league level during the past two years. However, those numbers have been accompanied by an unsightly 15:16 K:BB ratio.

Alex Colome pitched well in a spot start Friday, holding the Orioles to one run over 5 2/3 frames in a 5-2 victory.
Colome was wild (although home plate umpire Tony Randazzo's zone was tiny), walking four, but he struck out three and surrendered just two hits, out-dueling Kevin Gausman. The young right-hander was serving as the 26th man during a doubleheader and will be sent back down, but he made a nice impression.
