Colome will get the nod Thursday against the Angels, Mike DiGiovanna of the LA Times reports. With Jake Odorizzi landing on the disabled list Tuesday, it was unclear which pitcher manager Kevin Cash would turn to Thursday. The Rays will turn to the right-handed Colome, who allowed one run over six innings in his last outing.

Colome went six innings in a no-decision Saturday, allowing just one run on seven hits and three walks in a 2-1 loss to the Mariners. Colome was playing with fire all night, as he continued to allow baserunners inning after inning, but somehow escaped with a quality start. He only struck out two batters, and the Mariners helped him by getting caught stealing twice as well. With a mediocre strikeout rate and a tendency to get blown up, he hasn't achieved much fantasy value yet here in his rookie year, but Colome gets a nice matchup Friday against the struggling White Sox.

Colome gave up five runs on nine hits over six innings including three home runs, while striking out five and walking three in a loss to the Angels on Monday. The long ball was his downfall in a big way during Monday's start, as David Freese and Mike Trout went deep in back-to-back innings before Albert Pujols homered in the fifth. Colome has allowed seven homers in seven starts this season, but all of the long balls have come over a span of two outings. With a 27:8 K:BB over 35.2 innings, he's flashed promise of putting it all together, but it may be a bumpy ride for those hoping to cash in at some point in 2015. Colome will face the Mariners in Seattle on Saturday in his next scheduled start.

Colome pitched five shutout innings, striking out three and giving up four hits and one walk, in Wednesday's win over the A's. Colome (3-1) and four relievers combined on a six-hit shutout of the A's. But it wasn't smooth sailing for Colome. In the first, Billy Burns opened the game with a triple, but was left stranded after some questionable baserunning. He didn't try to advance on Marcus Semien's fly to center then he nearly got doubled up on Josh Reddick's grounder to first. In the fourth, Colome loaded the bases with two outs but got Sam Fuld to hit a grounder to end the inning. Colome picked up his third win Thursday and he'll go for number four in his next scheduled start Tuesday against the Mariners.

Colome is the likely candidate to start Tuesday against the Braves, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Colome would seem to be the top candidate by default following the news that Erasmo Ramirez's start would be skipped. Assuming he does pitch Tuesday, it would be on regular rest due to the off day Monday.

Colome lasted just 3.1 innings on Saturday, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk without striking anyone out. He managed to keep the ball in the park this time, after allowing four home runs in his last start, but that's still two bad outings in a row for Colome. The Rays don't have many other options for their rotation, however, so expect him to head back out on Friday for his next turn in the rotation, at home to the A's.

Colome was rocked by the Yankees on Monday, giving up eight earned runs in six innings on 11 hits and four home runs. Colome has only started three games this season, but this was by far his worst outing. Heading into Tuesday's matchup, he had a 1.80 ERA in his first two starts and had only allowed a combined seven hits. He'll get a chance to turn it around Saturday against the Twins.

Colome improved to 2-0 in Wednesday's win over Boston, tossing five innings while allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts. He didn't walk anyone for the second straight game, so Colome is now sitting on a 1.80 ERA and 10:0 K:BB over 10 innings in his first two starts. It'd be nice to get more length from him -- he threw only 79 pitches Wednesday -- but the Rays will presumably ease the 26-year-old into a heavier workload as he returns from the illness that delayed the start of his season.

Colome surrendered no runs and just three hits over five innings of work in Friday's 2-0 win over the Orioles. Colome struck out six and didn't walk a batter in his 2015 debut, which was enough to earn him the win. Colome has had some control issues over the last couple of years but he showed no signs of them on Friday. Keep an eye on the youngster over his next few starts to see if the success continues.
